We all know that these buggies don't come out of the box with enough pep to make us all happy. Some Karts are better out of the box then others. The Dazon 150 being one of them. However, I purchased a 2005 second generation HH150 2 seater. See my album for pics of the mentioned buggy. One question asked by newbie's day after day is what can I do to make my buggy faster? Well, there are numerous threads on this topic in this forum. The easiest way for me in the future to answer this question is going to be to refer people to this thread. The following upgrades were done to my HH150 but these upgrades can be done to any 150 size buggy with a GY6 engine. Without further adieu, let's get started.

CVT
1) My number one recommendation to give your kart better low end is lighter weight rollers. I purchased a Koso Hi-Performance Variator from www.BladePowersports.com. This variator comes with 9 gram rollers. It has not been proven that the actual variator makes a significant difference in performance, however, the 9 gram rollers do. The 9 gram rollers keep your buggy in lower gear for a longer period of time allowing the engine to spool up before shifting into higher gear. 9 grammers are an excellent choice if you are doing a lot of hill climbing. I also have some 10 gram sliders that I am soon going to try. The sliders can be purchased from www.indycycleranch.com. His website is still under construction so you might be better off calling him.

1a) Oh my gosh! I almost forgot about this little mod. The torque spring or also know as clutch spring. The torque spring helps to apply more pressure between the driven pulley halfs and allows for less belt slippage. As long as you are changing the variator and/or rollers, you might as well change the spring while you are in there. You can purchase the torque spring from here: www.BladePowersports.com. I have the 1500 spring installed. To see how to change the rollers, variator and spring go here: http://www.buggynews.com/viewtopic.php?t=1251 and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Download Dewmanity's .pdf file for the CVT guide.

If you want to know more about how the CVT works, go to CVT school here: http://www.buggynews.com/viewtopic.php?t=1938&highlight=cvt+school

CARB
2) My next recommended upgrade is the TM24 Mikuni Carb Upgrade. I was never happy with my stock CV carb. This carb never allowed my engine to start properly or idle consistantly. I began investigating slide carbs and arrived upon the Mikuni TM24 flat slide carb. This carb has incredible throttle response and I am extremely happy with it. You can go to the link in my signature to read more about this modification. In order to complete this mod, you will need the aluminum spacer and new throttle cable in which I sell for $30 and that includes shipping. The carb can be purchased from James Lee here on BuggyNews. The jets can be purchased least inexpensively from http://www.mfgsupply.com/m/c/search.html?mv_profile=search_profile&mv_searchspec=jets for $1.89 each. You will need jets 150-170 in order to tune your carb in properly.

EXHAUST
3) Now that you have opened up your intake, you need to allow for more air to flow through the exhaust. The number one pipe used on the 150s seen on BuggyNews is probably the Eastside Pipe. This pipe is a little pricey but well worth the money. The pipe can be purchased from http://www.eastsidems.com/eshopprod_cat_1453-10416_product_169349.HP_KIT.htm. This pipe is kind of loud but it sounds awesome. Your little 150 engine will now roar like a much bigger engine. It has a low rumble to it.

SEATBELTS
4) The next upgrade is not totally necessary but I am still recommending it. The seatbelts on my 150 are terrible. They are very difficult to adjust and therefore rarely get used like they should. I went to http://store.yahoo.net/wescoperformance/seatbelts.html and purchased model number 54000-16-06 for $59 each. These belts are easy to adjust and a lot more secure than the stock seatbelts. They also have a sub belt that goes through your crotch. I still don't know if I am going to install this but at least I have the option if I decide to do so.

These mods are what I have done to my buggy and my buggy will now do 45 mph. It will do 0-30 in a little under 8 seconds and the 200 yard dash in 13.2 seconds. Stay tuned because I will be adding to this thread. Coming soon: iCat Ignition Spark Enhancer. I am also investigating new shocks.

Thanks Blister...not only for writing down all your information, but I have followed all of your upgrades to your 150 and have awaited your results then purchased. As you can see with my signature below we are looking close to being the same....So THANKS for being my test pilot. You saved me money.

P.S. Don't expect a cut on the savings. lol

I received the clutch today and guess what? They sent me the wrong one. I quickly boxed it back up and sent it right back to him asking for a full refund. I am back to square one on the clutch. I waited 3 months for them to send me the wrong part.
