shimming or rollers???

I like my top speed in my challenger, but it is like my Peterbilt, fast as hell but it takes all day to get it wound up.
When I press the gas on my kart the tranny doesn't take long to kick in. I tthink I read Talonman had a big bumb in the RPM's before his trans kicked in. with my set up now the RPM's stay low to get it to creep along.
I have read about changing the weights/rollers in the cvt I am not sure what the 250cc's need I think I saw lafngas had some 18gram sliders.. I will probable do the shimming with a 5/16" first. But before I tear into this thing Has anyone shimmed the 250cc and is the 2.25 Outside Diam. the same? I found some thin walled exhaust pipe from autozone.
I don't want to lose my top speed, and need more grunt...
I am sure this might start some heated debate, but this is how us newbies learn

diffidently i would install rollers on the 250 before shimming, if you have the honda cn250 like most of us, the power band is in the upper rpm range,so the rollers will help the most, you can get them from www.miamimoto.com. polini roller weights 23x18x14.8grs are 15.95 plus shipping, or pm lafngas he may be getting some extra sliders someone ordered and not paid for.

If you are handy with a drill or better yet have a drill press, you can drill yours stockers out like I did mine. I think I used a 5/8" drill bit, but don't qoute that. It was just slightly bigger than the hole in the roller. Drill it out and it will be really close to 17g each. It will make a tremendous difference. It was like I doubled my HP on my buggy. It wouldn't climb very well until I did this. I actually used a dremel on mine and took another 1/2g out of them, but did not think I should go any further and risk the structural integrity of the roller. When I disassembled the variator it had what looked like your standard molly grease in there. I completly cleaned it out and sprayed the rollers and variator with with lithium. I have been abusing mine for at least 3 months and they are still in great condition.

I just received some 15g sliders that I will be trying in the very near future.

Well I did not have the rollers yet, so I went and put in a shim, and can tell a slight difference... only problem is that the chain stays in gear. or acts like it in gear. and now it is harder to change from forward to reverse. I believe when I get the rollers I will remove the shim. I am afraid i will tear up my transmission.
I am wondering if the 250's need a different size pipe, I used the 2.25 o.d. and the spring fit over the top of. I assumed the shim would fit flush with the end of the spring...
