So heres a joke to read as you jet your carb.

A frenchman, german and irishman enter a bar and order a beer. Each receive their respective beers but each beer has a fly floating in it.

The frenchman gets very angry at first, then throws his hands up in the air and exclaims "I surrender! You may have my beer fly!"

The german picks the fly out of his beer and drinks it down. He then picks the fly out of the frenchmans beer and drinks that beer down as well.

The irishman picks the fly out of the beer, rips one of its wings off and yells to the fly "Spit my beer back in the glass or I'll pull yer other wing off too theif!"

Steve this is such a great post. The pix are terrific. Something's different on mine, though. Your main jet is a 2-piece thing and mine seems to be 1 piece. I think I've read the stock Yerf main jet is a 108 and 125 looks to be a popular final number when changing the filter to a free-flow type. WHAT does that number refer to? The lower nozzle part looks to be .108" ID but the upper orifice would set the WOT flow rate, wouldn't it? Mine is approx .045" Please tell me those "buttons" you show aren't .132 to .140"...?

the mainjet is screwed into a larger brass tube, sometimes it is in tight enough to make the whole tube unscrew. It has a screwdriver slot on it. The numbers don't corrospond to a measureable dimension, they use Keihin jets. Yes, the mainjet is active from half throttle on, which is where we ride anyway.

Steve has the handy "range" of jets that you can order from suppliers like dennis kirk.

I'm not sure which standard keihin carburetors are using for nomenclature on their jets. Some manufactureres are quite arbitrary. There have even been problems in the past where some manufacturers larger get size (numerically larger) is actually lower flow!!!! Basically, the manufacturer of the carburetor/jets decides however they want to rate their jets... and that becomes law for that specific type of jet. We are using Keihin button style mains in the 150cc buggys.

Here's an example of jet problems in the past... and an example of the messes you can get yourself into with Jetting:
