This a little pictorial guide for those that have never done such a thing. See the descriptions on each picture. It's all very basic and step by step. Nothing too fancy here. Hope this helps some newbies a bit.

Read the captions of each photo for steps involved:

8) Choose the recommended jet for your pipe/filter combination and install.

9) Reinstall everything in reverse order. Make sure there are no air/fuel leaks!!!

10) Adjust low speed and idle speed as they were likely altered.

7) Using a flat head screw driver twist counter clockwise to remove the button type main jet. If the brass base trys to come off with the button jet you will need to use a small wrench (not pictured) to hold in it place while you unscrew the jet.

6) After removing the bowl cover you will see the floats (black rectangular objects here) and between them is the main jet clearly pictured. Notice the big slot in the center of the main jet for tightening and removing.

5) Remove the screws on each corner of the bottom of the bowl to remove the float cover. Gas will definately spill at this point if the bowl wasn't properly drained earlier.

4) You may be able to tilt the carburetor to one side to reveal the bottom of the float bowl and the screws that keep it attached to the carb. Undrained gas may spill now. Some designs need carb removal or partial removal.

Engine should be cool and rinsed/cleaned for dirt & dust

1) Shut off gas source or remove and plug gas line.

2) Find drain screw on bottom of float bowl/carb and drain gas out of bowl.

3) Loosen clamps on front and back of carb

Thanks... no problem. I really hope this helps someone new. As I do different things I'll try and take snapshots... batteries on the camera willing!

YEah, I usually point people to Awesome Buggys because he has done a really good job of that already.

Nice step by step on the Explorer 150 setup there.

Yeah,

Great post Steve. You may want to add a pre or post step which has them clean the carb of dust before removal or installation so as not to get dust directly into the manifold. It is insanely dusty out here and a prewash is a necessity.

I noticed, thought it was gas!

So heres a joke to read as you jet your carb.

A frenchman, german and irishman enter a bar and order a beer. Each receive their respective beers but each beer has a fly floating in it.

The frenchman gets very angry at first, then throws his hands up in the air and exclaims "I surrender! You may have my beer fly!"

The german picks the fly out of his beer and drinks it down. He then picks the fly out of the frenchmans beer and drinks that beer down as well.

The irishman picks the fly out of the beer, rips one of its wings off and yells to the fly "Spit my beer back in the glass or I'll pull yer other wing off too theif!"
