just dont have the car running when you do it. the altenator from the car puts out 75-110 amps, so when the car is running it will fry the electrical system of the buggy _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

Good to know....
I'll keep that in mind in the future.
I guess I've been lucky so far! _________________ Buggies....
Mine: Dazon 150, a few minor upgrades
Logan's: Carter GX150, stock..but very fast
Lindsey's: Baja Motorsports 90cc Shifter, manual 2 speed with reverse...small but fun
The biggest issue I can see with jumpstarting is the same that happens with jump starting a motorcycle. With the battery being dead, or low, you are asking the stator and regulator to do a job it never was meant to do, charge a dead battery. The "Alternator" and regulator is really designed to keep the battery maintained. You are going to introduce alot of current and heat to both, and there is a chance you could fry them.
Now, will you fry it, unlikely, but it is possible. It happen with one of my 200cc Chi-nduros, it was done with my jumper box. Rode to town and back (18 miles) and stalled in my driveway. Learned the Ignitor needed power to run, and with a dead battery-stator, and regulator, there was no power being made. Would have been a long walk if the battery didnt have a slight charge. Always figured the Chinese electronics are OK, but not Jap quality.
I wont say ya or na, but I learned my lesson with it. I would rather spend $25.00 on a Wally-World charger than to go through the work of replacing the stator and regulator again.
Just worth a shoot out. But I am a rookie on the forum, so take it with a grain of salt.. _________________ It's A Marine not reporters
