I was looking at a BMS 800cc buggy in an ATV dealership, and I was curious if anyone had any experience with this buggy Is it worth the price? Any comments would be welcome. Where might I find a review of the buggy?
Thanks

What is the date of manufacture and how much are they asking? There is a big difference in the manufacture date and included equipment. I bought a stripped down 06 model recently for 3K but most of the 800 CC go for around $5500. The Roketa, LJ Tech, BMS and a couple others are basically the same but some seem to have more gauges and other bling. The Joyners seem to come the best equipped but cost more. This is what I came up with when I did my research.

I purchased a BMS 800cc buggy (two seater) in June from a dealer (lo-volume dealer) for about $5800. I test drove it about a 1/4 to 1/2 mile and hauled it 60 miles home. It's had a couple of little problems that my local car mechanic have worked through for me. It's a dirt toy configured to almost be steet legal here in Arkansas. I searched for and finally located a set of 4 aluminum 65 ford mustang "4 on 4 1/2" wheels and bought automotive highway tires for them. I bought aluminum stock and had a weld shop fab a windshield frame and a glass shop put auto glass in the frame. A manual windshield wiper made it street legal. I tagged it for steet use. The longer rides on the road produced a new problem. the cart died when I came to a stop at a stop sign. Spoke to BMS in Calif. No help. my mechanic came to the same conclusion one of this web page's users did and with the fuel line mod, made it better. A month or two later, the dying at a stop got worse and the buggy was running rich. BMS hooked me up with a dealer in AZ who suggested removing the check valve in the gas cap to allow better ventilation. no help. my car mechanic returned the buggy to me this morning after putting a voltage dropping resistor in the power line to the electric fuel pump to handicap it a little to "allow the fuel flow to drop low enough to allow the ECM and other sensors to take control" of the fuel mixture. Cart seems to run great today!
Nice cart. Top end (or seemingly top end) is about 60 mph but the RPM is getting above 5 grand to get there. I cruise around town or to town at any where between 42 and 55 mph depending on traffic. It needs a higher geared top gear like a dead man needs a box. Or, a 5 speed transmission. Doesn't need any more speed, just less RPM at cruising speed. Doesn't need first gear on the street. Or use first gear and shift into 3rd (skip second). I get LOTS of gawkers and lots of compliments.
I'd recommend it as a toy or a short distance commuter. that's my two cents worth.

Thanks for the input. Don't know if I want to go through all that hassle.
Thanks again
