WHen I was a kid I found a mini bike rolling chassis and took it home. Well...see....my dad had a 5hp Briggs and Stratton engine on a brand new roto tiller and we had a full lawn, no dirt....so, I figured the roto tiller was useless, headed down to the local go-kart store ( yup they sold Carter Brothers, everyone did back then, a brand I love) and got a sprocket and a throttle and proceeded to put that 5hp engine on my mini bike, which had no brakes. What's really funny is my goal was to make that puppy go 50 mph!!! _________________ Carter Brothers gtr 300

...and did you ever get it going? I bet you were going 50mph when your dad found out you used his 'tiller motor for a minibike... _________________ Chris Dierkens

Why you talking like go-karts are dead? Haven't you seen gokart tracks in cities and tourist towns? There's even a class of kart racing that allows kids as young as 6 to drive this type of "lawnmower"-engined flat pan kart. Many of these courses are indoors so you might not even know they exist.
As for the garage-built, flat pan, no suspension, B&S-powered, slipper-clutched, slick-wheeled kart...Other than the above activities I think nobody bothers with them because they are so limited. When you're 14 years old and running from the cops on your kart you want to be able to go OFFROAD to evade them...and you can buy one almost as cheap as you can build it these days. _________________ _________________
