That's awesome... was wondering how to properly do this.
Question about the needle "holder". Mine is exactly like yours, but it wouldn't budge (which is why I haven't shimmed the needle yet). I was worried about breaking the plastic, so I didn't pull too hard. Did it twist out, or did you just give 'er a yank with some plyers? _________________ 05' Carter Talon GSX 150 2R

On MINE, I just pulled it out with needle nose pliers. It was a tight fit. _________________ Tomberlin Crossfire 150R

I'm all over it. Thanks.
I also read on BN somewhere that the pilot jet shouldn't be screwed in completely tight. The last few threads have a bit of resistance, so the rattling engine won't make it fall out, and I read that leaving the jet 1 or 2 turns from tight will also improve response.
Just throwin' it out there. I haven't tested it yet. Has anyone else? _________________ 05' Carter Talon GSX 150 2R

I don't agree - It should be snug enough to not come loose. _________________ 08 Joyner SandViper 250

I think you are talking about the fuel screw for the pilot circuit and NOT the actual PILOT JET? You do not want to leave the pilot JET loose, which is inside the carb, next to the MAIN jet.
The one that I have drilled out for adjustment above is the pilot fuel screw. What you have probably read is that you do not want to LOOSEN the pilot screw too much. The vibration can cause it to continue to loosen and then fall out. That is one reason I left the outer ring of the cap in place. It will not allow the screw to fall out.
When you turn the screw clockwise (tightening the screw= less fuel= leaner), do not forcefully tighten it. When you start the adjustment, just tighten it easily until you feel it bottom out at the seated position. Then turn it out and test for the best idle and the best throttle response. You must wait until the engine is at operating temp. Don't adjust it cold. My carb was touchy on the adjustment. A 1/4 turn would made a big difference. _________________ Tomberlin Crossfire 150R

I got to thinking about the weighting thing, the more I thought ,,it was 0.35, of an ounce. _________________ Turbo Turtle(for the little man)

Yeah you might need to see your neighborhood drug dealer to get that weighed accurately. _________________ _________________

The letter scale at the local Post Office works well. You will get better accuracy if you weigh all the rollers/sliders together and then divide by the number of weights. _________________ 08 Joyner SandViper 250
