Ha ha... OK.. now I had a chance to start it up in the daytime at home.. and it's got me a bit worried. It started alright after a bit of throttle, but chugged pretty loudly. No studder or bogging when it started to move, but just sounded like it needed a lot more effort to get rolling. Then I noticed the thin clouds of blue smoke out the back. And a lot more noticeable this time...
Plug is now oily with black soot, oil level is at half-way (only filled 3/4 in the field last night) idle is off a bit, but still accelerates, etc. Part of it could be dead plants or whatever burning up in the exhaust, but there was a definite fuel smell to the smoke. I know I asked in a different thread about piston rings, but was told not to think the worst off the bat. (dread taking this engine apart that far) so... I'm going to strip it down to basics, replace, flush, adjust those valves finally, get new seals, plugs, add some synthetic and then see how she feels. Maybe my baby just needs a good bath and some TLC. There was a pretty good amount of muddy water that sucked into the carb...
Or do you think I should start preparing for bigger work? [/i] _________________ 05' Carter Talon GSX 150 2R
