I have A stock 650 Sand Spider carbureter. I want more performance on the cheap. When I pull the spark plugs they are a light brown color. Is this an indication of correct jetting? How do you know if you need to rejet the carb?
I just installed the UNI filter air filter and the plugs have not changed their color. I think the UNI filters the dust better but dosen't breath any better than the stock Joyner filter( which let in plenty of fine dust ).
Jetting advise - please
Thanks in advance,
Clint

You want more of a darker color to your plugs. It sounds as if you are on the leaner side but still all right. The machines run better when they are leaner but it generates more heat.

An engine will only breath better if you also change the exhaust to let air out. Filter chance will only help if the other filter was overly restictive.
