A few questions do they make a header for the exhaust or do you just add a muffler to the stock system? I could probably make a header I may do that.
My son came over for an hour today and worked on it. I am tired of messing with it for a couple days. There are salmon in the river that need me to catch them.
I am planning on several mods one thing I found is the throttle is only opening about half way so an adjustment is needed at the pedal and my son adjusted the timing a little it had a hesitation in it but it is now gone. He was tracing out the wiring for the fan the relay is getting power but nothing at the fan he wants to find and fix the problem if not we will just hard wire it to a switch.
I agree the only way to fix the steering will be to cut some off each steering rod they are too long. I am glad someone else did this because it was my plan too.
I am going to order a K&N filter for it. I will look into the muffler I like things quit when I was younger I would have loved the loud pipe but not now.
I am glad someone has done some fuel mapping my son will be all over that he likes to tinker with things like that. If we get this thing running good I think I will buy another one so we have 2.
I am going to look at a boat trailer tomorrow to convert for hauling the buggies. $200 for a tandem trailer is a good buy I will just have to modify it a little and add a deck.
I was just a little tired when I posted last night after messing with the buggy for 2 days straight. I have learned on things like this it is good some times to just walk a way for a couple days and start new again.
Thanks Mike

Sounds like you are making good progress man keep it up and in no time it will be running strong. definitely look into the tunable spark arrester from www.Desertkarts.com that laymansm mentioned. I got it after reading his reveiws of it and wow its is a huge difference. also you can change the powerband of the engine by adding more discs for more high end power (and its louder) and less discs for more low end torque (quieter). to mount the muffler I cut the exhaust back past the support bracket (to the trans), then I grinded the bracket off the severed pipe and welded that back on farther up the pipe so it still is the support bolting to the trans. the desertkart muffler is 2 inch inlet but the buggy exhaust is a weird metric size so I had to pound a peice of 1-3/4" to 2" exhaust step up on to the end of the cut exhaust pipe so the muffler would clamp on.
There are headers available, WESTCOAST on this forum sells them as well as other 800cc go fast goodies. but if you have the ability and resources to build your own header then I say go for it, but remember to get the primary runners built to the right lengths for the rpm range you want peak hp and torque to come in at. good luck _________________ 2006 Roketa 800cc - K&N + precharger, rejetted, manual carb secondary, Desertkart spark arrest muffler, limiting straps, & lots of repairs...

We have the buggy running much better now. So far we have adjusted the timing, cut off .5" off the tie rod ends and replaced the fan relay and swapped the leads going to the relay they were reversed from the factory. We also changed the spark plugs. I have ordered a K&N air filter & crank case breather and a Desert Carts muffler. The single best thing we did was fix the tie rods the thing was really robbing power with the front tires fighting each other because of the massive toe in.
I would like to add a header so I will be talking to West Coast about that. I will see what the air filter and exhaust do for power and then decide if I want to turbo it.
We took it for a ride down the street and into a vacant lot I am really happy with the way it handles the rough terrain. we went right over the curb and hit some pot holes in the lot and it did very good. As soon as i get the exhaust quited down we will take it out to some local logging roads for a spin.
I am starting to feel better about my purchase and we are considering buying another one.
