CDI and Coil testing?

I finally picked up our little Dazon 90 after 8 months of no response about the warranty work, but that's a long story.

Anyway, I ordered a new engine off of ebay and installed it. But it was the engine only, (all my electronics have been sitting out in the rain) and I am getting no spark. It sat for 8 months out in the weather but is mainly just faded. I am getting voltage out of the engine, and a trigger voltage as well. I also measured my coil from spark plug cap to the secondary, it was 11k, and the primary was something like 5 or something, I think that was within spec. I've checked my ignition switches and fuse etc. as well.

Anyway, should I get a measureable voltage coming out of the CDI? the lead going to the coil?

thanks, I have heard you can only swap these out, not much you can test on the cdi, but thought I would ask. I already ordered a replacement but am impatient!
