For a few hundred dollars, my son and I rebuilt an old Carter Kart that had been left outside for too many years. The running gear is all stock, but we added a few items for a little "Wow Factor".

A 12 Volt battery was added to power some extra lighting with a selector switch so the battery can charge from the engine during the day and a voltmeter on the dash to monitor the battery health with the lights on.

We also welded in some side panels for rider safety and a "bikini top" to shade the riders from the 220 Watts of lights.

Have fun

Nice work, I like to see older stuff like this brought
back to life.

Thanks!

It has a Tec. OHH60 and I would like to put a carb with more adjustment so I can smooth out the idle. If anyone knows any tricks, let me know. We just took it for a ride - what a blast! I just wish I could get it to idle better.

The buggy looks great...

I don't have any experience with that carb. Is it stock or have you made any changes to the intake/exhaust?

Good job on the rebuild derwood! Is your son old enough to drive this by himself? Give us an update on your profile so we will know where you live. And..............

Everything is stock on the engine. It is just hard to get it started since it does not idle consistently.

My son is 11 so I cannot let him drive alone yet. If I am not mistaken, Michigan requires solo drivers to be 16 on public land. We own 100 acres in northern Michigan to ride on so once he has proven himself, I will govern it down and let him ride.

We plan on taking on another project again next year. Maybe we will resurrect a suspension kart.

Thanks for the looks! Very Happy
