I just recently bought my son a Helix 150cc kart by American Sportworks. It has the GY6 150cc engine and I'm having a problem with the engine stalling. At about half throttle it will bog down. I read an article that said the intake manifolds sometimes crack and mess with the air-fuel mixture. I have replaced the manifold and the manifold gaskets. This has not fixed the problem! I can raise the rpms just before the engine begins to stall and cover the air intake with my hand, the engine will then build up rpms correctly and run great. Air is getting to the intake somewhere, but where. Would someone please help or give some advice on this matter. Any info is appreciated. Confused

before you changed the original intake did you spray carb cleaner or starting fluid down and around the intake while it was idling to see if the engine sound changed or died out and that was the problem?
your problem might be that you have a small piece of dirt or junk in one of your jets, if so its not letting it get enough gas.
so if it is plugged up a little you are getting more air then gas and when you put your hand over air intake your cutting off the air letting it get enough gas to rev up.
maybe you might want to pull carb back off and clean both jets in carb and see if that helps your problem.

make sure you clean all the holes in the carb and in the float bowl.

Thanks guys for your input. I took apart the carb and found the the carb vaccum seal was not seated properly. After I fixed that I gave it a good cleaning and blew it out good with compressed air. I re-installed it and the engine ran much better. Thanks again for your help.
