Yes, the nut is still there - does it just need to be tightened?

it sure looks like the nut has came loose letting the gearbox separate. i can see the o-ring that is suppose to seal the grease from coming out.that would cause your problem not having forward gear.
did it bend the bracket from gearbox to engine?

That's it! The nut was WAY loose, torqued it over a few times and the tranny halves came back together. It runs perfectly. Thanks, you guys rock!

Wow, I fixed it so well that it promptly sheared the main support bolt and snapped the drive chain.

BuggyDepot.com sells a stronger tensioner that bolts right in.

Thanks, just placed my order. How hard will it be to find a new master link around here to fix the broken chain? I've heard that RIDE in Woodinville is buggy-friendly, but I90MS in Issaquah has definitely NOT been.

If you have a single roller chain, any 530 master link will fix your chain. Double roller master links will have to be ordered from one of the dealers on this forum.

Lynnwood Cycle Barn sells Carter buggies and MRP aftermarket products - They are inexperienced, but try hard.

Everett Motorsports sells Hammerhead buggies and has no clue about aftermarket upgrades. I'm not sure if they are still open because they lost their Kawasaki dealership.

Aurburn Big Daddy's sells Joyner and Roketa buggies they are not only clueless, but markup their parts 300%. I have reported this dealer to Team Joyner USA with no results.

Let me know when you are ready to ride and we'll go to Rieter Rd off Hwy 2 or Walker Valley east of Mount Vernon.

That sounds like a good time, but I have no way to transport it out there.

Not sure how to identify which type of chain I have and the Internets haven't been any help.

I looked at the previous picture you posted - You have a single roller chain that will work with the standard 530 master link. You can ask for this at motorcycle shop.

Where in Seattle are you located and where do you ride? Is your buggy ORV registered - It is required for the spots I mentioned.

Great, that's a relief. I'm on the eastside and have a couple of mountains taking up space in my yard.

I"m in south Snohomish County, so not too far away. Is your buggy ORV registered - It is required for the spots I mentioned.
