hi, Have a kr 250cc, I had it running from new for about 1hr! Wasn't running particularly smooth, checked the engine oil and it looks like cream! Looks like water has mixed with the engine oil, also there is a clear tube, seems to be a trap with a black bung underneath the plastic air intake and when the engine is running you can see clear water drip collecting in this trap. Iam just draining the engine oil, got a bucket of cream! This looks like too much water for it to be condensation but the rad doesn't seem to be losing water either, anyone knows what might be happening here?
Thanks.
ha you replaced the oil with good stuff for the usa if not then do it right away the stuff that comes from china sucks _________________ 06 joyner 250 sand viper, red metallic..blue clutch spring 17 gram sliders
has this engine ever been half or fully submerged in water? puddles, brooks, streams, rivers??? this sounds very simular to the motor being run through water... The milky stuff usually happens becuase the water has been in there over time... not just a day or two...
Chances are, you could have had water in for a long time, maybe from running it in snow (depending on where you are), or over huge mud puddles and so on...
The milky condition is very common from water sitting in oil over a period of time...
change the oil, ride it for 2 or 3 hours, check the oil, then ride it again for 2 or 3 hours (at your conveinience, not all at once), and then check it again, drain it, and re-fill with new...
This buggy is brand new, literally just out of the box from Kinroad. The 'engine oil' was put in by Kinroad. Its been sat in somebodies showroom for few weeks with the engine oil in it but while it was on show we hadn't put any water in the system. Gonna try your advise and change the oil a couple of times running it inbetween. I'm just hoping theres nothing sinister going on internally, faulty gaskets etc..
Thanks
You answered all our questions in your first sentence!!!!
That was not oil in that engine case... That was slime...
The manufacturers ship buggies with a real heavy oil in them to protect the components from sea water corrosion from the long trips over seas... They say in the owners manual to immediately replace this oil with recommended 10W40 motor oil prior to running your machine for break in.
I run ONLY 10W40 synthetic in my Dune 150 and Reaction 150, but that is just preference...
Swap out that oil and look for any particles of metal in the oil that gets drained and make sure there are NO larger pieces
Just to let you know we drained the 'oil' (milky slime) out, put in new, ran it couple of hours, drained it again and the oil that came out looked normal, phew!
-we have sold afew containers worth of these and thats the first I've ever seen with slime in it! But I did a test in a clear water bottle, mixed a little bit of water and oil and shook it up and it produced the same slime, so maybe there was some water/condensation build up in there.
