Has anyone replaced their stock shocks or springs on the Joyner 250cc? If so what kind of shocks did you buy to replace them?. Also are there any 250cc Joyner owners looking to replace the shocks?

The reason I ask, is I've pretty much had it with those front shocks. I know alot of owners like the Joyner suspension, and I wonder if it is due to the fact you upgraded from a 150 swingarm to 4w independent? For me my Joyner has much better rear suspension, as it should, and the Dune has much better front suspension (Arctic Cats). The Dune claims 8" travel, the Joyner claims 8-10" travel, so it must be those stock shocks.

Let me clarify. I'm not saying the rear shocks are great, just the IRS make for a much better ride through uneven pitted terrain. Yesterday I took the Joyner through a set of whoop and it bottom and bucked. The Dune handles those whoops just fine. Maybe you have different front shocks. My shocks are 17.5" i2i they have 11 tight coils at the top, and about 3.5 inches of shaft. The Arctic cat shocks on the Dune are 18" i2i they have 7 tight coils and 5.5" of shaft. Those puppies gotta go.

Greg....

There are Fox shock available for the Joyners but they are a very hi-line shock...worth it though.

I have not yet found a good source that can easily be swapped in for the the stock shocks on the Joyner 250.

Just put the Fox on all four corners. Haven't had a chance to run them yet. I'll let you know how it turns out before you spend your money. There are supposedly some King shocks comming out but not for another couple of months at least.

Please do! Shocks are my main concern right now. I think the ride could be so much better, and I hope your shocks are the answer. BTW where did you get them, is there a site where I can read up on them?

Got mine at Buggy World in San Diego. I don't know where you can read up on them. Maybe try the Fox site? I know Fox and Buggy World spent time in the desert tunning the ones I got for the 250 and several other Joyners. All I can do is trust they did it right for now.

Okay, found a pair of (Fox Predator ) $36. They measure 17.75" i2i vs 17.5 stock. For the ride I want I lose about
3/4-1" clearance. These shock really improved the ride, and handling. I've taking the buggy out 3 times with the Predators and have them in sync with the back stock shocks. Which is evident anytime I catch air.

I don't know alot about the things we discuss on the forum, but I would like to give an opinion. I thought the stock Joyner shocks and spring were the biggest issues, changed. I think the angle that the shocks are mounted at is a major obstacle.
I tried the Fox with the stock springs and had to give up more clearance for the soft ride, but they work great as a stiffer spring for the Dune 150 Arctic cat shock. Here's a list of the various combinations I tried.

Predator shocks as shipped (good)
Predator shocks with the same springs inverted (like it. present)
Predator shock with Joyner springs (trade off, soft or clearance)
Predator shocks with Joyner springs inverted (similar to above)
Joyner shocks with Predator springs ( too stiff ).

Jim chime in your shocks.
