How come most of the video on UTUBE show Joyners in the wide open areas and sand flats and Hammerheads in the woods?
I do not think I can go wrong with either buggy, I will be running in the woods, powerline trails, logging trails, rocky power line wash outs, and then along rocky back roads.
The only reason I am still looking at the Hammerhead is the turning radius... is it that much tighter than the Joyner 250?
I also have a HH dealer close by but I have talked to the owner of Edge Powersports and feel comfortable that I will be taken care of.
Age old questions for the two and then you can throw in the Blade... I think all have their strong points... I guess my main question is "How much better of a turning radius does the Hammerhead have over the Joyner, Suspension on the Joyner is better (I am 45 so this does matter to my back). Actual strength of the body and welds... equal in most aspects?
well i think the hammerhead is not as wider as the joyner not sure though my 06 is 60 in wide that is my joyner there is another thread on here for this look it up in the mini buggy section _________________ 06 joyner 250 sand viper, red metallic..blue clutch spring 17 gram sliders
Thanks for the reply, I have seen the widths on both, I believe you have both and I have seen many responses about both. The width (although important in many cases) is not as big a concern to me as the ability to make sharp turns as I weave in and out of trees (when necessary). Most of the trails I am on or will travel will be fairly wide. What I am wanting to avoid is the 3 point turns on hills... would like to keep moving as long as I have traction.
You mentioned in earlier post that the Joyner's suspension is very good, you like the quality of build, and rarely need to pull the tool box out... can you move in and out of trees, pick your lines in the rough washouts easily, etc.
It just seems to be that most videos have the joyner in the sand and the Hammerhead in the woods... ever notice that?
I am leaning toward the Joyner but my last concern is the turning radius... and I do not have a Joyner dealer close to me.
I have been to the Carter dealer (not well stocked at all and pushed me towards the Kawasaki 4WD side by side... was not impressed at all. If I had to write a review... it would get a C-.
I have been in the HH and it did a very good job, just doing the final research before purchase. And believe me I have been trying to purchase for months...kids and priorities keep changing. There is a Joyner dealer about an hour away... I will probably go and see him... he has just started his business though... will be buying from Edge Pwr when I buy.
no i do not have both i have an 06 joyner prototype for the 07-08 i love it like i said great ride like a catty i rarely have to get the tool box out its a great runner
i do some trailing up here in big bear it does great gets tight in some spots but very fun corners good idk how big the turning radius is but it seam to work on trails how big of turn are you trying to make i mean like switch backs or complete ues _________________ 06 joyner 250 sand viper, red metallic..blue clutch spring 17 gram sliders
Inside the rack and pinion steering box of the Joyners there are stops that are adjustable. Though there is not much of an adjustment left, you can coax out a little more to tighten the turning radius. I don't think that it is a big concern, though as the turning is very responsive.
I guess my main question is "How much better of a turning radius does the Hammerhead have over the Joyner, Suspension on the Joyner is better (I am 45 so this does matter to my back). Actual strength of the body and welds... equal in most aspects?
Looking forward to joining the fun soon.
Try sending a PM to jhammer. It looks like he owns both the Joyner and HH250SS. He's from MI, so he probably has done some tight trail riding. Anyway, he should be able to give you a good comparison of the two. _________________ Ron

i would defintely go with the joyner i have that it is so strong i have had no problems and also it is a little wider but it wont flip i have raced a rhino and i won because on a sharp turn it flipped and i didnt get the joyner _________________ 2008 Joyner 250 red

When you have a Joyner, you can jump it, and run it
hard and you don't have to worry about the cheap junky struts breaking, and giving you a rough ride, and
it will go anywhere a HH 250 will go and then some. _________________ 05 Blade SX-550 Suzuki

FWIW, I went out and measured the width of the front (from outside of the tires) and my actual width was just over 54". The rear width was about 52 1/2". _________________ Ron

I like what I hear about the Joyner... sounds like I can't go wrong...good suspension, wider for stabilty, built solid, parts are available and I can mod if I want to. NOt to mention the main question that started this all. Turning should not be that big of an issue that I thought it was... now that the decision is made...what a relief !
Thanks to all for all replies from this one and the past year or so... I just wanted to not say "I wish I would of bought"...
