I am looking into buying our first ever kart/mini buggy for my two sons. I wanted some input from all of you as to which models/manufactures you'd recommend. I wanted to get something that offers the most long term use as my boys grow as well as something that they could possibly handle now. I have researched and found an authorized Hammerhead dealer here in Mobile, AL which I thought would be a plus but haven't located any other authorized dealers of other makes within a reasonable driving distance. I don't mind going out further to purchase another make but didn't know if being that far away from the dealer is advisable. My boys are 8 and 9.

Thanks for any and all the input.

In the bottom of the price range I would suggest the Baja Dune 150, Tomberlin Crossfire and Punisher 150's and the Yerf-Dog Spiderbox GX-150's. Slightly more expensive models would include the Blade/Kinroad 150's, Carter 150's and Twister 150's.

The best used deals are Buggy Depot or Craig's List. Although some people have had luck on eBay, I find too many scams and misrepresented products there.

The least expensive new buggies will come from big-box stores and drop-shippers that have no idea what they are doing. Expect little or no support from them and resolving issues on your own or through the manufacturer. The more expensive buggies will have better dealer and manufacturer support. The dealers that take time to support this forum are the preferred choice.
