I baught me a brand new Campbell Hausfeld air impact wrench for a whopping $26 bucks. I hope she holds togeather good enouigh to complete my CVT mods. It is rated at 275ft lbs so I hope it can get my washerless nut's off the clutch and fan.

My question is after driving home I open the box to find out I need a special air wrench oil before I can use it for the first time. There was no oil to be found in the box. I don't supose ther is a hillbilly mod for an air wrench like 80w GY6 gear oil, or I have 1 gallon of WD-40? Smile

Second question is the directions say I have to get a special socket made for an air wrench. It said regular sockets will shatter like glass due to the way they are hardened. Is my 6 sided 17mm Husky socket going to shatter against the asain clutch nut?

What do you think? Smile

I haven't shattered one yet.

I would say that wd 40 is way to thin... the oil for these things is somewhere in between, but not nearly as thin as wd 40.

Walmart sells it ... as does any othe place with air tools. Home depot, etc.

Yeah, my wally world is open 24/7 too.

should say something like air tool oil, or pneumatic tool oil... or something like that. In the car section where the compressors and air tools are.

I bought a 1.25" (I think its 1.25") regular socket to remove the clutch nut. I haven't had any trouble with it. Are you replacing your clutch also?

My Campbell Hausfeld would not remove the bolts. I had to take em off
with my father in laws old Snapon. You can pick up a cheap impact
sockets at Harbour Freight for about $10

After 2 hours of impacting the clutch and variator nut with my brand new Campbell Hausfeld air impact wrench rated at 275ft lbs, and the compressor set to 90psi (max the air wrench will allow) resulted in no progress at all. The nuts are just part of the buggy!!

Well my impact driver produces 400 ft/lbs at 90 PSI.
So I think you need a bigger impact driver.
