What is an ECU?

The black box, computer, PCM, etc. Engine Control Unit.

thanks for the info. I should have known that I suppose, but I was looking for some sort of sensor that might control the fuel mixture that fed info to the "ECU". Actually, since I replaced the fuel filter, it has gotten better at NOT dying at a stop. Lots better, but not sure if its cured though.
