Their factory solution does eliminate the whole thing, your right.
The difference lies in who supplies and installs the parts.
I know sometimes they can be a bit fussy about changes.
Stock main jet is 108 (was on mine).
I'm at about 100 feet above sea level.
So your jetting should be about the same as mine.
Can't you get the factory solution under your warranty?
I would think you can....
I don't have the need for it anymore, because I replaced the whole intake system. Filter, carb manifold and all. And when I did need it, their solution wasn't available...

Looks like I will have to get the backfire fix. This was the first real weekend I have gotten to ride it hard. (2 hurricanes threw everything to hell). You were right 15 minutes in it was overheating and backfiring. _________________ Carter GTR 250

The kit should take care of the backfiring. But the overheating is due to it running lean. I don't know if a larger main jet is included with the kit. But you need one of those too. Our Carter importer changes them all to 110 size. But I ran a 112 main jet on the stock carb.

It says the kit includes a 110 main jet. I am running lean the plug was whiteish.
Also I noticed a sound which i THINK is coming from the rear bearing near the wheel. Kinda like the sound a 10 speed bike makes when you pedal backwards. _________________ Carter GTR 250

You mean a clicking sound...?
Could be your castle nut is coming loose...
I tighten those with the impact wrench and put a M3 nut and bolt trough instead of the split wire. No chance this will ever come loose again.
I also put a large inox washer between the bearing and the wheel hub. I never heard the clicking since.

I will check that out. It was audible only when someone else was driving away from me so I couldnt get a good read on where it was coming from. And it only made the sound at high speed.
It is still under warranty so I may just run it over to the dealer and have them look at it and do the backfiring fix. _________________ Carter GTR 250

Could be just a little slack on the chain.
They tend to stretch a bit, especially the stock chains.

I was thinking it could be the chain also. I figured it wouldnt hurt to check out the bearing also. I have to jack it up anyway to see if I can rerun the brake line to the rear caliper it is routed UNDER the frame instead of over/through it. If I bottomed out just right it may cut the line. _________________ Carter GTR 250
