When I first started having problems I took the carb apart, cleaned it and replaced the jets with stock ones. It starts no problem cold (with the pedal pressed), but can't get it warm to see how it runs like that.

I am located in Corpus Christi, TX. I was thinking of listing it for $900 since it is fairly new, only 32 hours on it. But if I can't fix it I will go lower, of course.

have you checked the intake good and sprayed carb cleaner or starting fluid around and over the intake while idling and spray it down around the plastic shroud were the intake bolts to head.i had that very same problem that you are discribing and it was the gasket leaking between the intake and head.
also check your coil wires to make sure they are tight making good connections.
just some more things to check

OK the saga continues. After looking over the buggy I found that the carb was not "seated" fully in the intake. I fixed that and now the buggy won't start. This is getting annoying. It is getting fuel and has spark. What should I look for now? Thanks as always.

valves probably need adjusted, this hasbeen my experience if you had a air leak making it lean and getting engine alittle hot the intake valve will be tight not shutting all the way.that will cause it not to start.

I adjusted the valves and they are set right. Right after I adjusted the valves I could get it to start but had to hold the gas about half way. Then I noticed the carb. Fixed that and now it won't start. I never drove it while the carb was like it was and only started it maybe three times after adjusting the valves. It ran maybe four minutes total.

boy that thing is wanting to be stubborn.when you said you had spark and gas was that meaning gas going to carb or gas getting to the plug making it a little wet after turning it over a few times.also when you check spark was it blue.
here is something you might want to check is the grounds wires. follow ground wire from battery back to engine make sure they are good and tight making ground and no corrosion on the wire ends, causing weak fire.
have you tried taking hose off back of carb from air box and putting your hand over carb making a choke with hand and turning it over to see if it will start.might need some one to turn it over for you if you try this.
just some more things to try

I noticed you said gas and spark but you did not mention air. In order for a combution engine to start and run,it must have all 3. I don't mean to sound like smart a$$ but try this, remove the air box from the carb then try to start it,if that doesn't work take the carb off and where the choke goes into the side of the carb, there will be 3 small holes. Take some carb cleaner and spray it into the one that goes into the throat. then when you replace your carb.... make sure you connect the hoses to the correct locations on the carb.(it is easy to get them backwards). My friend had his vaccum line going to the intake instead of the carb. His runs much better now.

I already had the air filter removed. I had not replaced it yet from all the trouble shooting. It is not clogged. I will check the choke like you mentioned. Thanks.

porkchop i guess you tried pulling the hose off back of carb and choking it with hand and it still wouldn't start?
going back to your original post about how it was acting it sure sounds like a vacuum leak and thats what i'm still thinking.
if you have good fire (spark), gas going to plug and valves set wright that thing ought to start even if the choke is not working as warm as the weather hasbeen.if the intake is leaking just a little it will cause you all kinds of problems.its pulling in extra air in and throwing off your air fuel mixture ratio.you might have a leak that you can't spot with your eye.on the bottom of intake there is a o-ring that seals intake to insulator gasket, under insulator gasket there is a paper gasket that seals to head these will leak to.maybe setting around alot as you have said it has lost its seal,or the intake loosening up enough to let them lose there seal.
just my thoughts i don't want you to think i'm beating a dead horse Smile but i have had my share of starting problems went through 4 intakes and a gasket leak.the gasket leak about caused me to pull my hair out until i figured out that it was the gasket leaking
i hope you get it going i know things like this can be frustrating
