I am thinking of buying an older odyssey either a pilot or the 350 model made in 85. What is a fair price for one of these in good condition? What is the big advantage of the FL400 pilot compared to the FL350 Odyssey. I had one of the old FL250 models but I don't want one of those I want some suspension.

From what I have been able to gather from looking at ebay and craigslist the going price for the Pilots are $6k - $7K and the FL350 seems to be around $3K-$4K. I have a lead on a FL350 right now and I plan to look at it. I am not in a hurry so I am wondering if I should wait to find a Pilot.

Contact eggyhed and some of his posts...
He's a big Oddy/Pilot guy... and one of my son's new best friends. He made a friend for life when he let him drive his pilot at the National Bash.

To answer your question as to if you should get an oddy or a pilot... That's going to depend on your budget. The pilot is better, but if you can't afford it or you find a heck of a deal on a used oddy, then you've got to pull the trigger.

I'd start looking and the more of them you see you'll learn pricing and you'll learn the pluses/minuses of each. If you do your homework along the way, when you find a good deal you'll know whether or not you should get it... You're in a good position, one of time.

Good Luck

This should answer most of your questions.

Hoodlum also knows a lot about Pilots and Odysseys.

I have had both FL's and the pilot's The pilot has far superior suspention and power, BUT the FL350 with a 410cc kit is still in my garage due to the fact it is too fun to sell!!

WC,
I am not sure what I want yet. I would like a 2 seater but I don't want a big machine I want to keep the size fairly small. The problem with the smaller Chinese models is the smaller ones are under powered. I saw one on cragslist the other day it was a Yamaha 2 seater but the owner claimed he was selling it because it was underpowered for the dunes. I am begining to think I should just build something I have the capabilities but I am not sure I have the time. I wouldn't mind buying a good rolling chasis and finishing it. I am really not sure what to do. I might go and look at an 85 FL350R today. The guy is asking $3200 OBO. If I go with an Odyssey I will probably need 2 of them. The good thing is I have money when I decide to buy and I am not in a big hurry. I would still like to come and see your buggies i just need to figure out when I can come to look. Are you going to be around this afternoon if I can talk my son into going with me maybe we will shoot out there?
Mike

Well I drove to Corvalis today and met WC he is a great guy and took us for a ride in his buggy what a nice machine my son and I really liked it. I am glad he had an Odyssey to try my son and I are too big for the odyssey but we fit in the GK-32 just fine and my son is 6'-10" so that helps steer me in the right direction. Thanks WC it was nice meeting you.

Your very welcome Mike, Glad you came over.
He's not jokin 6'10" and he fit well.
Still had plenty of power with somewhere around 600 lbs of people in it too.
Nice peolpe Thanks!

W.C.
