The north Carolina outer banks are probably one of the few best kept secret riding places on the east coast. There probably won't be any beach to ride on before labor day weekend. After the summer tourist season is over the Oregon state park beaches are open to the sport fishermen and vehicles are allowed on the beaches. if you can wait till mid september, there are 60+ miles of beach to rip up. They stay open all fall and winter, which is a good time to ride the sand because it's not so hot. I have driven just about everything down those beaches jeep, sand rail, suburban, motorcycle but haven't tried a buggy yet.

Great info, but I'm locked into those weeks. Any other suggestions. Is Corolla an option?

Well I just got back from a week at Nags Head. Great beach. I'm gonna plan a trip back with the kart as soon as I can figure out how I can confirm that I wont drag my kart all the way down there, and then get kicked off the beach.

contact the Nags head chamber of commerce, inquire as to availability and dates. Contact the state parks dept, there may be a permit that has to be purchased. It would not surprise me to find that vehicle traffic on the beaches is no longer allowed. Ever since the bridge at corolla was built a huge flow of tourist have poured in causing over development, commercialism, congestion and placing tremendous strains on the local government and the natural coastal resources. And of course the fat pile of restrictions and regulations that always seem to follow a boom like this. I spent alot of my childhood years on the outer banks. It saddens me to see what once was has now become.
