I have a 2007 HH 250SS. I believe the front wheel bearings are bad. How do I remove the hub? I have removed the cotter pin and the nut but the hub seems to be stuck. Are there any aftermarket bearings that will hold up better than the stock bearings?

I have changed the right front bearings twice in mine. You are on the right track but you must also remove the brake caliper. It has two bolts on the back side that require an allen wrench and are very soft metal.I stripped one of mine and had a heck of a time removing it.I took one of the bolts to the hardware store and matched it up with some better quality ones so this doesn't happen again.I bought better bearings at a local fleet and truck parts supply. They are made by Federal Mogul and are no more expensive than the cheap ones that Hammerhead sells.I believe you need a #6202 and a #6204.The bearings are pressed in but I knocked mine out with a socket extension.Do the small one first and then the larger back bearing. When you install the new ones find a piece of pipe thats similar in size to the outer part of the bearing and carefully tap it in till it is seated all the way.Put a little grease on the outer side of the bearing and it will go in a lot easier.Sorry to ramble on so long.Guess I should have sent this in a PM.
Hope this helps.

Your information is helpful, thanks. I am glad you didn't post in a PM.

I'm glad it wasn't in a PM also... I'm in need of new bearings also, but it's for the rear axel (straight) on a Carter 150. Does anyone know if this will also work on the axel bearings like it does for the hub? Ripping it apart tonight...but I'd appreciate any advice before I get into it..

Thanks for the info. I have removed the caliper but the hub seems to be stuck on the spindle. I have been trying to be gentle so as not to break anything. Should the hub slide right off the spindle? Any tips for removing the hub from the spindle?

Also, do you have the Federal Mogul part numbers for the bearings?

Some of them slide right off and some of them don't. I've had to use a 3 prong claw puller on a few.
