I totally agree with matching the vehicle to the task. What makes the Rzr such a success is it does very well in all types of terrain. It'll dune very well and I have yet to use 4WD there. It might not go flat out as fast as a 4 cylinder shifter buggy but at least it can follow--anywhere. The reverse can't be said of the wide buggy which simply can't manage (and isn't legal on) ATV trails. A Rzr is THE ONLY 2-seat sit-IN (rather than ON) machine that can (legally) pop out of the woods ATV trails & zoom up a steep sand hill like Bull Gap in Mio, MI.
And the 60mph mod is a freebie just by removing a spacer from the clutch. You can argue it's no longer stock but who keeps an offroad machine stock, anyway? _________________ _________________

As I said from the get go rzr are great vehicles, but Randy has a habit for as long as Ive been on this sight of running down anything he doesnt personally like. That gives newbys who dont know how he is a biased view of things. I was just trying to help people to see that, buy the right vehicle for the purpose and you will be happy. Obviously some one who is comparing a 650 ss to a rzr doesn't know much about either vehicle, so needs to realize the weak and strong points of both vehicles, which was what I was trying to accomplish. Then Randy jumps in to call me a liar and try to say I shouldnt have an opinion since Ive never owned a rzr. Give me a break! The rzr is a great vehicle, but it is not the be all end all of off road vehicles. It has strengths and weeknesses like they all do. The suspention seems to be the main one. Out here in the desert people immediatly put long traval kits which negates the width advantage for trails. It is all a compromise. As far as speed taking out some clutch peice is probably easier than the exhaust mods and intake mods I have done, but not much. So back to the original point a 4x4 doesnt compare with a 2 wheel drive on climbing and a rzr will not out run a 650 turbo (which costs less than 1/2 of a razor) on desert or sand.
Guy you mentioned that a rzr can at least follow and to a point that is correct, but from what I saw on whoops in the sand they would have to slow down so much that on a long stretch they would be so far behind you might never see them again. Again I say get the right ride for what you like to do and you will love it. Van

I have had the 650 turbo clocked at 72 and it gets there in a hurry. The 1000 I have which is just like the one you had, gps at 79. Recently we went to hot wells dunes and got involved in some informal racing and performance tests (they didnt want to let us in at first, thought we wouldnt be competitive) with some side by side guys. The only thing that could beat the 1000 or the 650 turbo was a highly modified rhino. The 1000cc was second, the 650 turbo was third, a rzr (stock and only three days old) was forth, and then various rhinos, artic cats and rangers mostly all stock with backseats and suspention added but stock motors. The place where the rzrs really fell down was going through whoops at high speed the stock rzr was almost last out of 13 people because they had to slow down considerably to maintain control through the rough stuff. The modified rhino was first through the whoops as well, with the 650 out shining the 1000 here. Probably because of the aftermarket shocks on the 650. The verdict when all was done was people were gathering around the buggies wondering where I got them and how much I payed. Most had heard of Joyner but had never seen one. They had all heard they were garbage along with all the other chinese buggies out there, but had a different opinion by the time it was over. The guy with the heavily modified rhino said he had almost 30k in the rhino and he barely beat out the 1000 in a couple of tests. Keep in mind that both of my buggies have had serious work done on them both for performance as well as reliability. The 1000 didnt even get used for almost two years because of mechanical issues. All that having been said I am very happy with how they perform now. So happy that I recently picked up another 1000, used, to start to modify. A 2006 Sunl. What is interesting about this one is that it is carburated and has a 2-barrel carb. I didnt know they made any 1000ccs that were carburated. It appears to be very well built, much better than the LJ tech 1000 that I already have, but it has less traval and also looks much heavier. I am thinking about fabbing up a turbo for this one, but I am going to start with exhaust and intake first. Anybody know where I can get jets for this Carb? Van

Only thing it might be is when they were rebuilding my engine( I spun a bearing). They deck the head and raised the compression some. Other than that all I have done is add a K&n and eliminate the catalytic converter. I think I may get a little more power at a lower elevation the gps results are from 8000 ft elevation. _________________ 2005 Joyner 650 Turbo

My Joyner Trooper T2 has not broken at all. Some people change machines like they are clothes not staying happy with anything very long. ALL machines, RZR, Rhino, Joyner and the balance , have had problems. Do a search on Google and you will find each machine's problems. Each machine performs differently. ALL are good! There is no reason to bad mouth any of them! I was going to get a RZR before I found the T2 and am happy I ended up with the Joyner Trooper. We hear from the few who have problems but never from the major out there having trouble-free rides. I will say the one weakness in Joyner is the warranty. Should be longer but the again, Honda gave me NO warranty on my CRF450.

I have riden in a RZR, I am not to hip on the body roll it has with two people in it. I have 2 650 joyners and it does not have the lean of the RZR. I personnally feel much more secure in my buggy then I did in the RZR. As far as climbing etc. the RZR has 4X4 were as my Joyner is only rear wheel drive, but I can say that there has not been a hill yet that I couldn't make it up. I'm not trying to say its a LS1 powered rocket that flies off the top of the widow maker but does pretty well. Maybe slowly but does get there. People spend alot of money on aftermarket upgrades on the RZR's, maybe making a great product even better, or...??? I am in no way knocking the RZR, just raising a question. If you decide on the Joyner, put a turbo on it, whoa what a difference. I think that you will be happy with either product, no matter which way you decide to go, I would recommend taking a ride in both, so you can feel what works for you personally, we all like things a little bit different, just a matter of opinion. Don't get too caught up comparing apples to oranges. The Rzr feels tippier because it's not 64" wide--it's 50".
As far as putting a turbo on the Trooper--I'm sure it would be a screamer if you did--but then it would cost nearly $15,000. _________________ _________________
