I BOUGHT A FMF SLIP-ON FROM BIGE & USED THE OLD HEADER OF MY CHARGER. ( SAWED OFF) I WANTED TO TRY THIS BEFORE GOING ALL OUT WELDING , BENDING , MORE $$$ ETC.
WELL , I HAD AROUND 5 INCHES OF HEADER TO WORK WITH.
I MADE WHAT I THINK WAS A DOABLE BRACING SYSTEM ... ALL GOOD . NOPE
AFTER 10 MINUTES OF RIDING...
MY NEW PIPE WAS SO HOT IT WAS UNREAL.
IT WAS JUST ABOUT "BOILING" THE FMF STICKERS.
MY HEADER CRACKED MORE THAN THE "TINY " STRESSFRACTURES THAT WERE THERE BEFORE. IT REALLY OPENED UP , EVEN THOUGH I PUT THOSE CIRCULAR METAL THINGS ALL AROUND IT BEFORE. (PLUMBING BRACES/HOSE CLAMPS)
THE SILLY QUESTION IS :
DO I SUPPOSED TO HAVE MORE THAN 5 INCHES OF HEADER ?I THINK SO ... CAN ANYONE TELL ME THAT IS CORRECT , & A MUST DO TO WORK PROPERLY ?

Sounds like it is running too lean. I have seen headers glow orange or red from a lean running condition.

I USED MY OLD HEADERS OFF MY ORIGINAL MUFFLERS , COMBINED THE TWO , TO MAKE ONE LONGER HEADER THAT HAS THE SAME BENDS & LENTH AS THE ORIGINAL. (NO CRACKED PARTS)
