I spent many days trying to figure out what I was going to do with my GTR 250 and kept getting the run around from every phone call and website. Finally with the help of McDonough Powersports and a few emails back an forth we decided to try:

Red Main spring
Red clutch springs
25x22 18gram rollers
uni air filter 1 1/2"
MRP Exhaust

Nology Hot wire and iridium sparkplug

First I was a little disapointed that the exhaust did not come with mounting instructions or recommended jetting. It also was missing the nut. I did figure it out and also needed to drill the back side of mounting slot of the furthers back bracket so the bolt supplied would fit through. I still think I would have liked to try the FMF slip on for half the price.

Red Main spring was easy to install but it was a tight fit to put the plastic spacer back on.

Red clutch springs were really fun to put in. I needed to take the 3 clips off the clutch to remove the ring to give me more access to the springs. Also need to hold it in vise on its side. Hard to pull springs but got them in:)

Carb had a 105 main jet which I changed to a 115 and also turned the air screw in 1 turn (stock was 2 turns out)

Nology hot wire was grounded to the starter mount. I also removed the resistor from the sparkplug cap. Much better spark!

Test ride:
It got into the power right away and stayed there.
I was worried when I was at a high rpm and still not going very fast. I was looking at the speedo and yet it was still climbing and climbing and climbing. Didnt seem to loose any speed, but didnt gain any either.
Climbing hills wasnt even close. I take the same hill many times and it would always bog down near the top. With the new mods it flew up the hill like there wasnt a hill. no bogs and rpm never dropped!
Tires spin up more than before and does much better donuts. In reverse tires really spin up.

Exhaust sounds great. I was worried at first because at idle its not noticeable, but when you take it for a ride you definatley hear it.

Things I still want try:
I am not really looking for more speed, just want some more midrange pull.

High speed kit which is a longer chain and a 16tooth sprocket instead of the stock 14tooth.

28 or 30mm carb kit?

Thanks for the review, very helpful. I also got some 15gram rollers and a main spring from BIGE but havent put them in yet. Wanted to get the VAPOR wired up and do some baseline testing before I start playing with the clutches. I have however removed the muffler and fail to see what everyone is changing them for. At least on my Titan, the muffler is straight thru with no restriction that I could see. I actually enlarged the holes in the center pipe to let more of the sound into the packing and it is noticably quieter. Maybe Im missing something Wink

I think you may have said it already with "atleast on my Titan". The GTR has a very very restrictive exhaust. These mods are GTR250 Specific! thx

Welcome to the GTR community.
Good to hear the mods are working for you.
You don't need the plastic spacer, the back pulley even opens a bit more without it.

The high speed kit from Carter has 18 tooth front sprocket not 16.
And that is way to big for off road use. The kit came with the cart when I bought it. OK it did 55mph, but took an awful long time to get there. Running 16 tooth front now, with a few mods still does 55mph... in the dirt!
