First I would like to comment on what an excellent forum/community this is. As someone tasked with creating a forum for our company, I am very aware of the commitment it takes, not just from the administrators, but from the users, too. Congrats to all here on something you can all be proud of. I intend use this forum as an example of what is possible.
The real reason I am here: 2 friends of mine each bought a buggy and keep them at my house (because where I live we can ride right out the driveway into the middle of 100's of square miles of recreational area). I've been "elected" to get the ball rolling with the buggy-mods thanks to a slight advantage in mechanical inclination. We are just looking for a general power increase without getting too radical. Most of the riding is trails and hills. They've given me an initial limit of $200 for each buggy.
I've spent the last 3 days learning everything I can from Buggy News, and I have put together my shopping list. I would very much appreciate any advice you can give me on my choices.
Buggy #1: Baja Dune 150 with the GY6. All found at Blade Power Sports
• 10 gram rollers
• 1500 rpm Clutch Arm Springs
• 1500 rpm Main Spring
• Racing CDI
• High Output Coil
• NGK Spark Plug
• GY6 Air Intake for 2" UNI filter
• 2" UNI filter
• Carb Main Jet ****
**** I understand I need to get a range of Jet sizes to experiment with, hopefully you can help me narrow it down. The majority of our riding is between 3000'-4000' elevation in Central Oregon. Combining that with the improved air filter, I'd love some advice on where to start with the Jets.
Buggy #2: Roketa GK06 with the CN250. I've had a harder time finding stuff for this buggy. Essentially, I would like to duplicate my GY6 list, tailored to the CN250. I think I can find most of it at KidNme.
• I'm not sure about the 10 gram rollers for this one. As I understand it, these trannies start with larger weights, so maybe 10 is too small. Recommendations?
• 1500 rpm Clutch Arm Springs
• 1500 rpm Main Spring
• CN250 Adjustable CDI
• Performance Coil
• NGK Spark Plug
• 2" UNI filter (can I attach this directly to the carb, or do I need an intake tube of some sort?)
• And Jets. Again, whatever starting point you can give me...
Whew!
I based my selections on results I've read about here, and I think these setups will be ideal for our conditions. I know that when you make mods, they all need to work together to be most effective. Does anyone see anything here that's gonna bite me in the rear end? Any predictions on what I will end up with? A couple of trail-riding rockets, or a big mess?
wow grutz looks like you will be doing some tinkering.
in the area you will be riding is it steep ground or flat laying ground?
will you be doing anything to the exhausts on these buggys?
that will help maybe on some advice on your jetting.
i think i have herd other members say the dune 150 has a stock 114main jet in it.also not sure can't member but i think i herd the dune 150 already has 10 gram roller and the 1500 torque spring.might want to get that verified.
on the 250cc alot of guys like the sliders 15,17,19,and 22 this depends on your riding and what you really looking for.
not sure what the stock carb jet is that comes in it.
i know with a few mods these things really come to life.
hope this helps you on getting the ball rolling on your mods.

Dr. pulley 10 gram sliders, 1500 torque spring,39 tooth sprocket,2000lb winch, red neck uni filter, 125 main jet at 1,450 elevation, drilled out exhaust, ngk iridium plug, performance intake
trying a set of 10gram rollers now
Buggy # 1
- I would personally go with 10-8 gram sliders, they last longer and seem to provide better results, alot of it is preference.
-I would save a CDI for one the last mods as they can be pricy (almost half of your budget)
- depending on your mods, altitude, and normal ambient tempature on a normal riding day your jet may change.

Buggy # 2
-A common weight sliders to jump to is 17 grams, again the sliders are recommended.
-I would personally save the CDI for last as a price issue
-Jets again will vary upon all of the factors listed on Buggy # 1.
-Call Tom at 717-825-0669 and visit www.kidnmekarts.com for a few how-to videos including rejetting and installing intakes and exhausts.[/list] _________________ -Alex

I was hoping to leave the exhaust systems stock. I'm not into the loud thing. Also, a lot of our riding is on BLM and FS land, and they are pretty picky about spark arrestors etc.
We ride a lot of hills. My place is at about 3000', and we get up to about 4000' at the highest. Guessing at temperatures, I would say averages in the 80's during the summer and the 50's during the winter. Any other info needed? Is the main jet marked with its size? If so, I can pull it and see what it is.
Thanks for the replies. This is exactly what I was hoping to learn, especially regarding the clutch setups. I'd feel like a dope if I ordered the same thing it came with! _________________ Baja Reaction 150
the jets are marked with tiny tiny tiny wrighting, it will be on the top or the side. most do ok with the stock exhaust, if you rejet and leave the stock air box on it then you will get some performance gains.
the 250 xtx I have in my show room has a 128 jet, stock muffler and airbox, just the jet change made a good diff _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

It's pretty dusty here, so we want to upgrade the air filters for the improved quality as much as the improved performance. I'll see if I can determine what jets I have, and I'll open up the CVTs and see if I can figure out how the clutch and variator are set up. _________________ Baja Reaction 150
you can still do the same mods. there is a sticky post in the buggy 101 section of the forum index. _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything
