This is going to be a Love/Hate relationship (CVT Upgraded)

Yahoo, I just couldn't wait any longer to get my CVT springs upgraded Very Happy

Put in new 15g rollers, replaced main spring and put in a set of Red racing springs on the clutch (Eric thanks for that insight on spring direction by the way Very Happy

)..I would say took around 30-40 minutes to break it completely down and put it all back together...with out any bloody knuckles not as hard as some may think, right tools make for easy job...Hint -> a laptop with buggynews with good insight near by:wink:

So I hopp on the Buggy all excited, start the Buggy, and notice that it seems to be running more smooth, also noticed that the open exhaust was a lot louder Confused

ease on the gas, and NOTHING happened Shocked

it felt like the belt was slipping...so a give the bug some more gas and start to move, so I floor it and, the wheels spin like the buggy had been drinking espresso Colombian coffee, two very nice streaks of rubber are now on my garage floor...I could spin the tires with it stock...but it never made marks like this Shocked

So just for fun I try it again on the black top and sure enough wheels spin and tires leave a nice black mark on the pavement (Note: this was in reverse) So Put the buggy in gear, and again the buggy revs a little than catches and off I go, It felt a little faster, seemed to be running a lot better, and when I let my friend ride it up the driveway, it looked like it took off like a Donkey on rocket skates...I can throw the buggy sideways with the break and than hit the gas and hold a drift... Twisted Evil

Could not do that before...So well worth the money for the upgrade, However a few things that I really don't like is has much gas it takes just to meet the revs required to move at a turtles pace, runs well with one person, put with two could only tell a slight difference from stock Confused

and I am going to have to buy a aftermarket exhaust, now do to the noticeable increase in noise...I can only assume this is because the buggy was bogging and that is why the exhaust did not seem so loud. Who knows? Might toss on the white spring set to see how those feel, than the yellow Very Happy

Whaddya think makes it rev so high before it engages? Do you think that's the rollers or the clutch springs? I'd be curious to see if you went back to the stock rollers and then tested it out.

BTW, must be nice to be able to turn the tires over on pavement. I'm seriously jealous.

It is the clutch springs...Eric/BIGE told me that they were that way...I think I have to hit 3000revs before they will engage, If I just floor it, it takes off no problem and I can feel it because it picks up speed with a quickness...but when my kid wants to putts around with me, I only like to creep around the yard and that is hard to do with this set up Confused

It did lay some rubber down on the black top, but the buggy was in reverse when I did it... Laughing

tire spins going up hills which is cool, I might go weigh my stock rollers to see where they stand Very Happy

Thanks bro. I was considering the Hit clutch or upgrading the clutch springs. Do the red ones provide the most resistance?

I would think that would be how they work, I went ahead and bought the 9 spring set from Mcdonoughpowersports, so I am going to try the white springs and the yellow also...I will post video of the buggy performance with each different spring set...I was going to get some video when I got home today, but storms are rolling in, so I am going to wait untill saturday. starting with Red springs which are the race springs according the box.

Glad you like them, the whit are not as agressive as the red.
The other 94 sets should be here next week

The red are the stiffest (race ) the yellow are next (sport )then the white (Cruising ). I like the red with the wite springs and the maloosi clutch adjusted for the most resistance

Is there a secret technique for getting those short yellows on? I had a terrible time putting the white ones on, and the yellows are one coil shorter.

they can be a little tricky, I use a smll (really small ) phillips head srew driver on those, put the screw diver thru the loop just a little and then put the tip in the hole on the clutch arm and move the screw driver upwards. most of the time when the end of the spring gets in the hole you can tap it with a very small hammer
