I just received a coolster challenger 250 a week ago. From the get go, the shift lever takes a lot of muscle to put into reverse. You really really have to use your strength when you pull it back into reverse. Also, sometimes it will go into reverse fine, other times, you shift into reverse, and it sits there and misses and clanks around but doesn't ingauge. Anyways, the cable finally broke when trying to shift to reverse. I have read elsewhere that these come dry from the factory and sometimes bind when new and must be oiled. Any info and input will be appreciated, and also, if anyone knows where to get another one quick because I'mn going riding soon. Thanks
i dont know where you can get one but i think its not the cable you should be worried with, sounds like your reverse housing is out of grease or has a warped yoke. tear it down and look for a shiny spot to see if its rubbing one side _________________ 150cc kinroad gy6, 9 gram rollers, k&n airfilter, gutted exhaust, 30mm carb, racing coil, racing cdi, bigger battery, gates belt, 2,000lb winch, redneck force fed cvt intake

murray1986 try (roketa.com) for the shifter cable look under the 250cc buggys they have a parts brake down for them.
probably have to call them for price didn't see one.
the cable could have been bad from the beginning broken cable strand mashed hosing or some thing like that and out of adjustment a little.
when you have it down when putting the new cable on repack gear box with high temp grease also put some were the shifting fork slides through the tube.
one more thing do a search here on oiling the cable this will help a bunch and the cable will do better.
good luck and let the buggy force be with you.
