after how much riding time should the springs be changed out? ive had the 2k rpm clutch springs in for about 4 months now. as most of you know i give my buggy hell. most of the time im full throttle going through mud. do they ever loose their tension? i just got 2 sets of new 2k rpm springs for cheap cheap off ebay.

thats a good question. It stands to reason that the heat and prolonged use would cause them to loose tension over time but I have never heard of someone complain of clutch spring failure. As they weaken , the clutch will engage at a lower rpm so maybe it is not noticeable. Most simply burn the clutch up long before the springs ever have a chance to fail. I'm still using the original clutch that came in my buggy {spring of 05} It's still holding strong and I see no reason to replace it until the day I feel it slip. Murphy's law dictates that it will fail this week because I just bragged on it. I've worn out 2 variators in the same time frame.

ive gone through 2 stock clutches within the first 3 months of riding it. the second stock one i put the 2k springs in. when i got the prodigy clutch i replaced the springs that came with it to new 2k rpm springs becuase i didnt ever get an answer as to what rpm springs come in those clutches. my guess was lower than 2k rpm. was i right? my clutch does not slip. my pads are still very very "meaty". like you said...you cant really tell if the clutch is engaging at a lower rpm or not. maybe ill change them out just becuase i need to get back in there anyway to check on things. (belt, variator, sliders) preventative maintenance.

I have had a clutch spring fail in a 50cc scooter, but haven't had and problems with the stock buggy clutch running since 2004.
