If I had a Sand Viper, I would check myself, but I don't; so I was hoping one of you might be able to help me out.

I tried checking the owner’s manual, but didn’t find much about it.

I am planning on purchasing one of the 1100 Sand Vipers in the next couples of months, and while reading the manual, I noticed the warning on page 4, line 3 of the Liability Release form says “I understand that the roll bars are cosmetic and a roll over could cause death or serious injury…”

This got me to thinking that adding a few tubular or flat gussets to the cage might be a good idea. At the very least, it would add extra rigidness, a “oh sh!t handle or two, and a little extra “pizzazz”. Looking at the way they are designed, I can see that on a roll over on hard surfaced can actually cause the cage to “taco”. It also seriously lacks proper triangulation.

So I was wondering first, what are your thoughts on the above (i.e. experiences, your mods)? Second, can someone tell me what the tube diameter is on these carts?

I calipered my roll cage tube diameter this morning - it's 1.275". I also checked my 190 page Viper 1100 manual and can't find anything about the cage being just "cosmetic".
The cage is a welded - not bolted - integral part of the frame and is triangulated at the front top corners, the front bottom corners and the rear. Check my posts for photos

Jaxn,

Thanks for taking your time to get me that measurment.

Just to quote myself from above,

Quote:
"I noticed the warning on page 4, line 3 of the Liability Release form says “I understand that the roll bars are cosmetic and a roll over could cause death or serious injury…”

Other then there, I did not see it anywhere else. Confused

Anyways, I figure it wouldn't hurt to add a gusset here or there.

BTW, I have enjoyed all the pictures you have posted. Cool

I've never seen that liability release, but I can just imagine what a corporate lawyer would want to put in it - doesn't surprise me.
Good luck on getting a Joyner 1100 - you won't be sorry. If you're going to buy a new one, call Glade at Edge Powersports 208-356-8905
