Found it on Craigslist Phx. I knew buying used meant not getting a perfect kart but the price was too attractive to pass on. The owner turned out to be a helluva nice guy, loaded it up on his own trailer and delivering it over 40 miles one way!!

It does have a few issues though, first it was advertised as having a bad choke solenoid and the owner told me that it would run fine but die as soon as it warmed up,which it does. After playing around with it a little I got it running good enough to cruise down the street a a few hundred yards before it died.
It seemed not to be choked out and running too rich but more like starved for fuel ,the filter never seems to get more than 25% full and when it dies the damn thing is empty. The fuel line seems ridiculously small and the rate of flow doesn't seem adequate even for such a small engine. Then again I am used to working on V8s and have never owned a motorcycle.

Second issue, the spindle on the right side front tire is bent causing some serious alignment problems. I'll need to repair this soon because it is causing serious wear on that tire. Motorsportsparts.com lists this piece for 61.87, if anyone has a better source for this part please let me know Very Happy

Third issue (minor I think) The CVT cover doesn't quite clear the rear bell and rubs on it, is there supposed to be a gasket between the cover and the engine? If so I imagine that would fix the problem. I'll try and post pictures but I really suck at that sort of stuff so bear with me.

As a side note John at Funzone motorsports here locally was very helpful over the phone, taking the time to give me a rough idea how the solenoid works. I wanted to thank him publicly. Applause

Look inside the gas tank with a flash lite. There is a prefilter in there at the petcock. They get dirt in there and clog the filter.

The 250 cvt covers have a rubber gasket that gives you the clearence you need. The 150's don't need them but the 250's do.

Took the spindle out and straightened it out in a shop press.FREE
Changed the fuel line, the filter and cleaned the carb.$8.00

Used the cheap stick on door ding protectors that they sell at autozone to make a cvt cover gasket.$3.00

4oz of Seafoam in the tank and filled it with fuel $13.00

Took it out and thrashed the hell out of it with my daughter riding shotgun. I'm a very large guy 6'3" 300 plus and my 9 year old daughter is 85 pounds this kart moves! climbed decent hills no problem did about 35 or so in the straights and plenty of low end.

I'm Happy

That's the cool part, it already has a Dr.D exhaust pipe, a K&N filter, a 147.5 jet and judging by the way it can haul my fat rear end around I'm pretty sure the previous owner wasn't lying when he said it had a clutch kit in it. Any suggestions?
