well on saturday I snapped the front left spindle off my 800 roketa. I came over a hill at like 50 mph and it just snapped and I went sliding with the wheel all bent crooked. I just sat there with a big dumb grin...
this thing has handled my abuse wonderfully over the past 5 months and its about time something on my front end gave out. most all of my driving is at high speeds over some very rough roads and the front end gets constantly jarred around at 45-60 mph with the occassional big slam from a hill or a deep puddle. overall I am pretty impressed that it survived this long.

when the wheel went crooked the brake rotor bent the caliper mount and ate up the outside brake pad real bad...
what do you guys think, could I bend the caliper back straight or should I get a new one??
think the caliper itslef might be broken too cause the pads are all loose and floppy and they pinch together without any force....

Glad you're ok - wow!

I'm not an expert on brakes, but seeing as how you already have it apart and it looks like its in rough shape, I'd replace the caliper and the pads.

It will be hard to bend the bracket back perfectly. If not straight the pads won't be in full contact with the rotor.

Glad you didn't get hurt.

yeah thats what I am thinking too so I will give it a try but probably just buy another anyway.

when the spindle snapped the wheel stayed on thats why the brakes are bent up.. so it really wasnt that dangerous because I was still sliding on the tire (instead of stabbing the a arm in the ground and flipping).

atleast the hub and wheel bearings are still good. Cool

Glad you didn't wad up when that thing broke. If you need replacement items. I know Superkart has stock spindles and parts in shop inventory. They also have billet racing spindles that will fit all the 800, 1000 and 1100 karts if your so inclined. Sean made the billet spindles for racing, as I believe they broke the stock ones the first time out. These will definately hold up.

Give him a call if you need more info or stock replacement parts.
I'll look for a better picture, but I think it is on my laptop. This is all I got right now of the billet spindle, but you get the idea.
later...Mick

wow didnt know those existed... I think I might have to get a pair, depending on prices of course. I know my other spindle has been through the same stuff so its probably going to snap soon too... and I dont feel like replacing these every few months (Im sure as hell not going to be more gentle on it!!). also best to avoid a dangerous situation right??

thanks for the info mick, I dont know where I would be without you guys... not having this much fun thats for sure Very Happy

PS: looks like those spindles have camber adjustment..?
