I ordered the flywheel puller, 11 coil magneto/stator from ebay, and a new voltage regulator. I figured if I was going to go through this I should change both electrical components. Does the 11 coil mean it is a higher output that the 6 or 8? Sorry, I am learning. I bought these buggies for the kids and I to ride and have fun, but it seems I am getting an education on mechanics. I guess that is a good thing. I try to keep thinking positively as both my karts seem to have a lot of technical problems. The sad part is they are basically new and all we do is run them around a one acre dirt track that I built. Not a lot of abuse. I couldn't imagine the problems we would run into if we took these out in the woods or beach. We probably wouldn't get to far. Anyway, I guess I'll try to keep them going as long as I can. Maybe I should get another job to keep up with the repairs on these things. Ha Ha. Or maybe it's not a joke.

OOps. I think I may have made a mistake by ordering the 11 pole stator. Will this require rewiring and/or an upgraded voltage regulator? Please help.

OK here is an update. I ended up canceling the 11 pole stator from ebay and ordered the more expensive 8 pole stator recommended from buggydepot.com. 2.5 hours and $140 into it, I still have no lights!!! I replaced the stator, flywheel, and regulator. I now have 14 volts at the battery with the buggy running. I still have no power to the switch up front for the lights. Please help me through this once again and tell me exactly what to check and what voltages I should find. If I disconnect the connector in the electrical box, what voltages should I find from the stator? I'm not getting anything. I'm really confused. Please help.

profaci i'm not sure what kind of reading there is supposed to be with the 8 Pole stator.
have you checked were the 4 wire plug, plugs into the rectifier.when plugging these in some times it will push the connectors back in the socket and you will think they are plugged up but they are not and they will not make a good connection.
thats all i can think of that has happened.

I've taken apart and reconnected the connectors a couple of times. No difference. Where should I go from here?

man profaci i don't know what to tell you have you went to the big plug in electrical box unplugged it and set your multi-meter to ac-volts with engine running and see if you have any power there at all, then plug it back in and go rectifier and check there.
also you had your cvt cover off the other day did you get all the ground wires hooked back up.
i just don't know wish i was more help

Ok the first thing you need to do is make sure you have the stator working properly. Get the motor started and unplug the battery. (this should work) If the motor stays running you have the stator is working. If the motor dies then you are not getting any juice from the stator, you have to have power to the coil so you can have spark.

A quick question. Now that you have installed the new stator. When you check the voltage have you tried checking it with the engine reved up a little. I believe that trouble shooting this you would be more beneficial with a test light due to the fact that the voltage changes depending on the rpm of the engine.

I have checked the voltage at the battery and it is around 14 volts with the buggy running and 12 volts with it off. This illustrates to me that the stator is working (wrong?). When I check other places (at the light switch, rectifier plug, and internal plug where the stator plugs in) I don't seem to be getting any voltage. As far as I can tell all the ground wires are attached. Please give me step by step and at what locations I should check for voltage and what kind of voltages I should expect.

Does anyone have an electrical diagram for your SUNL so I could write up some directions?
