Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone can help me out here. I seem to be having problems with the shifting on my Talon. At first I couldn't get it to go into reverse. When you would put the shifter in the reverse position you would just hear the clutch slipping. So I tried to make some adustments to the cable. Then I couldn't get it to go forwards OR in reverse. Then after a few more adjustments it would ONLY go in reverse - even when the shifter was in the forward position. Now I'm back were I started, with it only wanting to go forwards.
Can you guys help point me in the right direction here? Do I maybe need a new cable? Am I doing something wrong on the adjustments? _________________ 2007 Carter Talon GSR 150 2R
To adjust the reverse cable, start with the lever in reverse (cable tensioned) with the rear of the buggy on stands and tighten the cable until the planetaries are fully engaged into reverse (I did this with the engine off and spun the rear wheels until the gears mate up well and no longer make noise). Forward may have some slack in the cable, but this is fine. _________________ 08 Joyner SViper 250

Someone told me to try taking the clutch apart to see if there is dirt or something in there. Does that sound like a possibility? _________________ 2007 Carter Talon GSR 150 2R

I think you should try taking the Rev. G/box apart & inspect/repack full of good high temp grease. If your clutch works fine in Forw; will be fine in Rev as well. On cable adjustment Pghruby described the easiest way to get this set, then for me small adj (1/4 to 1/2 turn) often fine tuned this problem away; if not, u in same boat as me... GSR--needs new cable. _________________ Team Farm...

Well, turns out that's what it was all along. I found a spot on the cable were it was tied under the frame that was chaffed and had rusted. I guess I must have hit it in a rock or something. Anyways, I tied it back up on top of the frame to keep that from happening again. _________________ 2007 Carter Talon GSR 150 2R
