HEY GUYS ... I WAS TOLD TO USE A LIGHT OIL FOR OILING MY UNI FILTER.
I'VE BEEN USING POWERSTEERING FLUID.

MY GIRLFRIEND GOT A CRAPLOAD OF DOT BRAKE FLUID . Rolling Eyes

Personally I'd use one of the many oils packaged especially for foam filters. They're medium viscosity and real sticky to keep the dirt trapped on the surface.

My Honda Trails used a a foam filter that was soaked in gear oil and squeezed out. The new air filter oils work much better than any lubricating oil.

There are dozens of options. There are pour-on oils, spray on oils. Some wash up in soap & water, some you have to use a special cleaner (fast, but more $), some you wash in paint thinner, then soap & water. Go into any powersports dealer with an hour to kill and read the labels.

I use Bel-Ray foam filter oil. It's pretty cheap and it's a brand that's on the shelf in most places. I have a little quart bucket with a lid that I use to soak the foam & wring it out into--saves oil, as long as the filter is clean first. Get an Outerwears cover for your filter and you'll go much farther between cleanings.

I once tried an oil that used plain water to clean it. All you did was swish it around & it came out clean. Bio-degradable so no guilt in pouring the dirty mess on the ground. But it was very hard to get (mail order only--this may have chaged) and I was never real confident that it was still doing the job after I had been through some puddles.

COOL ... THANX "GUY" .
BEL-RAY IS WHAT I'LL LOOK FOR . I'LL ALSO GET AN "OUTERWEARS"... MY FILTER GETS DIRTY FAIRLY QUICK .

CALL ME A NUT ... BUT, I HAVE BEEN USING POWERSTEERING FLUID FOR THE COATING & "GAS" TO CLEAN IT IN .
THE GAS REALLY WORKS ... FAST & IMMEDIATELY... I JUST HAVE TO BE SURE IT IS ALL OUT & EVAPORATED BEFORE I PUT THE UNI BACK ON.

THANX AGAIN,
RONE
