Dewmanity, thanks for taking the time and effort to record how you performed your mods. This forum has been a huge resource for me in finding ways to finagle just a bit more out of my buggy. Also a special thanks to Rebecca and Joe Jorgensen of DeserToys, they had all the parts I needed and were extremely helpful. Hopefully I'll get to ride with them come New Year's if my semi repaired strut and lower A arm hold up to some test runs while I wait for replacement parts. _________________ 2005 Carter Talon DLXIIR

noob question,
What weight rolers are in the stock Yerf? I want to be able to maintain 30-35 mph but i need a little more torque. Im also increasing my tire size to 17's in the front & 22's in the back so, i know I'll lose some there. I have the blue main spring comming & hopefully the fox or extera wire harness will work _________________ stock yerf dog, on order parts: 1500 main spring, wire harness, 10 & 12g rolers, 1500cluch arm springs, 1/4" 4x4 front hubs, shocks, UNI (redneck)
The stock Yerf rollers are 13g. I don't remember what the RPM rating is of the blue spring. If it is the 2000 RPM, the 13g rollers may be fine ( I would not go lower than 11g with the 2000 RPM spring). If you go with the yellow 1500 RPM spring, get 10g rollers. _________________ 07 Joyner SandSpider 650

my bad, i ordered the 1500 spring. (yellow) so 10g is close to my 35mph target? Im sure thats what u said but just makin sure.
are there any other mods u would sugest besides shocks & well, all suspention, i know i need that but i mean cdi, engine, intake, ect? Im trying to build a buggy to keep up with the kids spyder 250 in the hills.
oh ya, by the way....Thanks a bunch _________________ stock yerf dog, on order parts: 1500 main spring, wire harness, 10 & 12g rolers, 1500cluch arm springs, 1/4" 4x4 front hubs, shocks, UNI (redneck)
oh ya,
The kid also said something about using mixed weights, like 1/2 the rolers 8g & 1/2 the rolers 12g. any feed back for that? _________________ stock yerf dog, on order parts: 1500 main spring, wire harness, 10 & 12g rolers, 1500cluch arm springs, 1/4" 4x4 front hubs, shocks, UNI (redneck)

I do not suggest mixing roller weights. The heavier rollers will push out faster and wear quicker than running all of the rollers at the same weight - Besides the rollers come in sets, so you do not save any money doing this.
My Yerf runs in the low 30 mph range with the following setup:
10g rollers
115mm variator (gives a little more top end)
1500 RPM yellow torque spring
39t axle sprocket and stock 13t engine sprocket
Stock 13/40 final transmission gears
22x11-8 rear tires (the taller the tires the more they take away from low end)
A12 torque cam
UNI filter with redneck intake
Twister exhaust with drilled baffle (more for upper end)
150 main jet (runs slightly rich at WOT)
High performance CDI and coil
NGK Iridium spark plug
Although there are quicker 150's, there is not a hill that this engine will not climb before the tires let loose. When it had stock tires, it would chirp them on pavement from a standing start, but was limited in top speed to the mid 20's.
I feel you can tune a 150 to out climb a 250 or out run a 250, but not both. For us, torque was more important than speed. Team Farm runs a Carter 150 that has higher top end for open stretches, but my Yerf will out torque it.
Get the front wheel size up to 20" or 22" to reduce drag and improve flotation.

Great! thanks a million! I know i wont be able to out run & out tourque him but, keepin up and out climbin him will do just fine. Especialy since he spent like $2300 on his buggy stock and i spent $720 on mine . _________________ stock yerf dog, on order parts: 1500 main spring, wire harness, 10 & 12g rolers, 1500cluch arm springs, 1/4" 4x4 front hubs, shocks, UNI (redneck)
Ok, last question.....well, probly not really but anyway...
if i go with the standard 1.5 UNI (redneck) set-up, what kind of carb jet problems am i going to run in to with the standard carb? _________________ stock yerf dog, on order parts: 1500 main spring, wire harness, 10 & 12g rolers, 1500cluch arm springs, 1/4" 4x4 front hubs, shocks, UNI (redneck)
If you do not modify the exhaust or cam, expect to rejet to a main of 125-130 to compensate for the additional air flow. _________________ 07 Joyner SandSpider 650
