Advice on a 150cc for my family

I like the selection and prices at www.scootersfactory.com but I can't decide between their various models. We have a Yerf Dog 3206 which we absolutely love and would like to have another 2 seater cart for my family. We don't like the poor turning radius of the 3206, but other that, great.

• Excellent turning radius
• Most comfortable seats
• Top speed I don’t care about, I want excellent hill climbing, low end torque
• Luggage basket on the rear – plan to haul fire wood too with it
• Reverse
• Howitt Motor - seems reliable and easy to maintain.
• 4 wheel disc brakes, I'd love stainless steel braided brake lines.
• 150cc - don't need more than this
• Dual sprocket, dual chain - we have broken a few chains on the Yerf Dog
• Excellent lighting - we do alot of trail riding in our woods and take our kart down to the boat dock
• Large gas tank
• Don’t care about California emissions or certification
• Don’t care about noise

I can’t decide between the Raptor, the Explorer, the Spider, the Sahara….I'd appreciate greatly any insights you all have as to these models (or others in this price range) that would be better. Also, if there are dealers with better prices or service than www.scootersfactory.com, I'd love a referral there.

Price is not everything when considering a buggy from an online source. You may get a machine at near wholesale pricing but the service after the sale is what really matters in the end. Do a search here on buggy news and see how well the company that you are considering has been received by those that have purchased there in the past.

You might be better off paying a little more and knowing that you will be taken care of when needed.

I would not recommend the explorer (Sunl). I have two and they are a poorly made buggy. I've read some good things about the Sahara's.
Since you want dual chain I would look into one of Blades 150's, I believe they are dual chain.
If you want climbing ability out of the box look for something with a 36 to a 39 tooth sprocket. I wouldn't consider anything with a 31T sprocket for hill climbing or carrying major loads.
I have never seen a 150 with four wheel disc brakes, they all are solid axle and usually have two front discs and one disc on the rear axle.
For reliable dealers I would recommend Blade powersports, McDonough Powersports (Blade dealer), Glade at edge powersports (Sahara). There are several others that advertise on here that have good reputations. I have also dealt with Awesomebuggies and found there service to be so-so.Hope this helps you out some.

i agree with the other guys, in all honesty i would stay away from the explorer or spider buggy. for the main reason of the engine thats in them they are two bolt valve cover style of engine and engine parts are harder to find for them and when you do they are expensive.
thats a few of my thoughts and good luck with what ever you decide to go with.

EXterro Max 150 is great for hills, my dad just got one & he loves it. its pritty spendy though. It climbs like a 250 & has a bunch of creature comforts. Plus, if u want to upgrade it, those are inexpensive and easy to find.

guys thanks for the info....right now I'm first concerned with which one is built the best and meets my needs..in other words best 150 cc under $1900 to my door....how do I find out which company actually makes each model? Does anyone have a source for new crossfire R's?

Another 150cc is the crossfire 150r At our ocal Sam's 1600.00.Warranty and parts are not to bad from them.

agreed, easy to get parts & will probly fire rite up without all the complications of more expencive, "need add-on's" buggies you most commonly find these days.

I had no idea there were so many 150cc choices out there....wow....so far, it appears Roketa and Kinroad are two of the major Chinese manufacturers, is that right? It appears US dealers then ship them stock or put their own name on them with some customization? Are "blades" customized Kinroads?

Does anyone have a breakdown of the differences between the hammer, raptor, sahara, and jet cart? I mean I know the Chinese have a ton of cheap laborers, but there appears to be alot of similarities between the buggies....or if there isn't, it's tough to tell the differences....is one model newer than the rest?

This group is a wealth of good info, thanks so much. My kids are really excited. I've just got to figure out which model will keep them happy and me out of the garage wrenching on it when it breaks.
