Does anyone know how to change the springs on the HIT Clutch? I would like to change the springs and see how it works. Is there an easy way to get them out and put new ones back in? _________________ Dune 150 : 39t sprocket, uni filter, cut out exhaust tip, drilled inside,145 rejet, stock tires front(changing soon) 22x10-10 carlisle on rear. 1500 rpm spring, 9.0 gram rollers. billy you got a nice list of parts there for your 150, really want to spruce her up do the 4 valve head and a big bore, the stroker crank helps out quite a little bit to. _________________ 2006 carter gx150llr lots of goodies

Well I figured out how to take off the pillow springs. Here's a question though. What is a harder pillow spring? Is it the spring with the higher or lower number.
Example: pink spring 25kg
blue spring 23kg
Clutch spring: blue 12 kg
red 20kg
I want to experiment first with the pillow springs because they are easier to change(at least I think) but I don't know what the numbers mean as far as hardness of the spring.
ALLBONES512 thanks for the comment. Those kinds of mods unfortunately are a little out of the budget right now. _________________ Dune 150 : 39t sprocket, uni filter, cut out exhaust tip, drilled inside,145 rejet, stock tires front(changing soon) 22x10-10 carlisle on rear. 1500 rpm spring, 9.0 gram rollers. As im sure U have figured out by now the heavier wt. the spring, the stiffer it would be ... Did you have a chance to do some experimenting w/diff. pillow springs ???
I to have this Hit clutch & have tryed several diff combinations - cl./pillow springs, to try & get a smoother takeoff @ high(er) RPM cl. engagement.
Get back to me if your out there, this clutch has potential ( as is so adjustable) to give me what im looking for, just not quit there yet. We work together & save time ?!!? _________________ Team Farm...

The Kg's stand for pull force.
The higher the more pull on the pillow.
The later (higher rpm) the actuation
(locking of the clutch to the bell)
The engagement of the clutch is done with the clutch springs.
Just as in any regular clutch type.
The harder the clutch spring the later the engament (again higher rpm).
I'm running the pink set now.
For my setup later actuation is better (bigger front sprocket).
As with all these things... It's about the whole system not just the parts.
what works for one... well you know what I mean...
(forget it when it isn't the same engine)
TF What setup are you running now?
And what do you think can be improved upon?
You say you want smoother take of at higher rpm.
Can you give me some numbers?

Thanks for the replies everyone. Well I figured I would try the blue pillow springs for now. I did not change the clutch springs that came with the clutch yet. With the blue pillow spring it seems to allow the clutch to engage a bit quicker then the red it came with. It's cool that the clutch is adjustable. The worst part is taking off the cover and muffler everytime you want to do it. _________________ Dune 150 : 39t sprocket, uni filter, cut out exhaust tip, drilled inside,145 rejet, stock tires front(changing soon) 22x10-10 carlisle on rear. 1500 rpm spring, 9.0 gram rollers.
