Hi All,

I am having starting problems. Here is what I have done so far:
1. changed the spark plug
2. cleaned the carb
3. checked the filter connections below the tank, i get fuel flow.
4. replaced UNI air intake filter

When i spray engine start fluid into the intake the buggy starts, but wont stay running.

The first time I had this problem, I blew into one of the tubed under the tank, and it started and ran no problem.

Now I have the problem again. This time i did the same as before but to no luck. I blow into the bottom tube under the tank I believe which opens the valve and fuel pours out of the top tube no problem. I connected everything together. Buggy turns over but wont run.

I have pulled the carb out cleaned it out, but still cant get it to start.

Any suggestions would be nice. I do have some king of electrical connection to the carb, in a form of a pin connection which is connected to the side of carb with 2 screws, not sure what its for, does it ned cleaning possibly.

Thanks
Anthony

wow i see you have been a member for a while.
have you ever adjusted the valves?
what about the intake that the carb goes on? is there any cracks in the rubber or has the rubber let loose around the bolt holes, also the vacuum lines for a split or leaking.if these things are all original i would definitely look at them.
when you cleaned the carb did it have junk in it like it could have come from the gas tank?

One other very simple thing to try is to take off the black plastic electrical box cover and check/jiggle all the electrical connections. Then try to start it without the cover.

My Sunl had a similar problem once or twice. I went through all the troubleshooting (cleaned the carb, checked for spark and fuel, etc.) and it turned out that my electrical box cover was mashing a wire down (probably the one controlling the auto choke) and causing a poor connection. It fired right up once I took the cover off.

Eventually I re-arranged the connectors somewhat and got it to run fine with the cover on. Then after about a year of riding, it started running poorly. Took the cover off and it immediately ran again like new. I don't bother with the cover anymore, but I also avoid mud/rain/deep water more than I used to.

Another time I had so little gas in the tank (which looked OK visually at the time) that it would not start while leaning very slightly. I leaned it the other way and it started right away.

Good luck and keep us posted.
