I'll get an amp meter on her this weekend if I get her back. I see that your model has an 11 pole stator and I'm pretty sure mine is the same, but who knows. What we're basically looking for is how much overhead we have to work with. Drywalljohnny had some video up where he had switched from stock lights to a couple of larger lights mounted on top of the buggy, so that may be an option, as well. Perhaps re-wiring the hi/lo beams to two separate sets of lights? I'm also curious as to what size battery is too large.... _________________ Carter Brothers gtr 300
If the 11-pole stator in your GTR is similar to the one I have in my Yerf and your regulator has two outputs, you will be able to run a pair of 55w lights off each regulator output plus running lights (about 230-240w). I am using a 12Ah battery without any problems. _________________ 08 Joyner SandViper 250

The engines are of a SYM Quadlander ATV.
Found this info for it:
Charging system
Description Specification
Battery
Capacity 12V12Ah
Charging rate 1.4A / 5 ~ 10 hours (standard)
14A / 0.5 hour (fast charging)
Leak current < 1mA
Charging current 1.2 A / 1500rpm
Control voltage in charging 14.5 + 0.5 V / 1500rpm
Maybe this can help.
Stock bulbs are 35/35W

If you could post a wiring diagram or link for your GTR, I could tell you whether you have the dual output regualor. _________________ 08 Joyner SandViper 250

The black wire output from the rectifier is unregulated but rectified (DC) and powers most of the existing lighting only when the engine is running. The red wire output from the regulator is regulated and rectified and provides charge to the battery.
Replace your existing main head lamps with better lights using 55w bulbs and run new ground returns to your frame or battery.
Run your auxiliary pair of lights off the battery supply (that is charged by the second rectifier output) and again run good return grounds to your battery.
Each pair of lights should have its own fuse and switch control to allow isolation and load control when needed. The auxiliary lights should only be used at speed and turned off when idling to prevent excessive battery drain.
A very clear explanation!
Should be no problem to setup the extra wiring.
Running them of the battery should prevent overloading the stator
Still would like to know how much the amp output really is.
Just to know how much is left for charging the battery when I switch on the extra 55watt lights. The numbers I found don't tell me much (only at idle). Would hate to get stuck somewhere with a dead battery.
Many thanks,
