hey guys, just checking out the products available for the good ol' gy6 and I stumbled across an oil cooler. Any thoughts about adding one of these to the gy6? To me it looks like one of the pieces goes up where the oil usually drains out of the bottom then from there it connects to the rest of the unit... Confused

i also have looked into the oil cooler and i cant seem to figure out where the other end would go back in to the buggy unless it went out the drain and back in the filler where the dip stick goes..... Confused

Even that setup does not seem like it would circulate the oil. Perhaps the oil only has one line to a radiator/reservoir? The cooler oil would sink back down while the warm oil would float up to the radiator. This would require keeping the radiator below the max fill capacity level in the engine. The additional oil capacity would help as much as the cooling.

I live in Arizona where the summer temperature reaches 120 F or more. I have had no overheating problems with my Reaction 150. If the kit does not force much oil through the cooler the benefits would be minimal at best.

I think an oil cooler would help my engine out a lot, ( I installed a 170cc big bore kit so I'm guessing it's generating more heat compared to a stock gy6.) Anyway I think it would be sweet to have one if installing one was not very difficult. Thanks for your input guys.

Our HH-200 came stock with a External oil cooler.I worry the kids will bust a oil line or worse rip the hoses loose and keep on going.

the one I have has a part that goes where the drain plug and screen are. it has 2 elbows one for in and one for out, the oil goes out thru a finned aluminum filter thru the oil coller then back in to the engine.

Hey BIGE what kind of lines come with the kit? Are they a high pressure type or something rubber with some hose clamps? do you think it would be possible to tee off one of the lines to install a oil pressure guage? Can you still retain the filter screen? How far down do the elbows hang? is it possible to snag the lines on something?
the more I type, the more stupey questions I come up with Laughing
