i dont know if im posting in the right place but my buggy wont start.

i was going down the road and the power just shut off and picked back up. about the 3rd time the power shut off it didnt pick back up and died.

i have replace the coil and cdi and check for bad grounds. i pull the plug out and turn if over and i get a tiny spark but not enough to even hurt when i hold it in my hand when turning it over. i mean its a tiny spark but its consistant.

i could really use help on this im supposed to go trailing tomm

take a volt meter and see how much voltage is in the battery, then turn the key to start and see how far it drops

The ignition runs off the stator so the condition of the battery only applies if it will not crank or the battery is shorted internally and pulling down the stator through the regulator/rectifier.

Start by downloading a GY6 service manual and following the ignition troubleshooting. You will need a meter that reads resistance, AC voltage and DC voltage. If you do not have a meter hopefully you have a Harbor Freight store near by (they are under $10).

Manual: http://www.spiderboxperformance.com/yerf-dog-tech-center/yerf-dog-view_to pic.php?id=14

AC voltage is created by the stator and fed to the CDI. The CDI gets a pulse from the flywheel pickup and advances the release of AC to the coil. The coil steps up the voltage and sends it to the spark plug.

These components are where you need to focus your troubleshooting. This means you will need to measure across them to get the values in the manual and check all your connections.

If you get through these steps and still have not isolated the problem. Post what passed and failed in the troubleshooting steps so we can help further.

ok im starting out with about 12.25 volts on the battery. when i turn the starter over with the plug in my voltage drops to 9.6 or so (while on 2amp battery charger). i have checked the hot and ground wire going from the cdi to the coil and it is only like 7 volts where it should be about 112volts. the cdi is new so im leaning more towards the stator but im still a little confused but im trying.

Your battery is a little low, but that will not affect spark.

Remember the CDI is being fed AC from the stator. Your meter should be set to measure VAC, not VDC to get 112 and 122 VAC or greater readings. The flywheel magnet pickup reading of 2.1 is also VAC.

Unless you are reading DC voltage off the battery or rectifier, the voltage measurements are in AC.

yes nice,i seen this and everytime i see something like this i try to read it i understand some what how the stator works but still lost if i would have to trouble shoot it.that has been one of my biggest worries for me with my buggy.my stator has 5 wires i'm curious and wonder if it is like some of the your guys stator.
the wiring harnness from my stator has a
single blue wire and plug
single red black striped wire and plug
than a plug with 3 wires green,yellow,white
