Desertoys,

Thanks for the informative post race analysis and thank you for participating in this race series. I can only hope that these improvements to the race buggies will eventually trickle down to improved production models.

Hopefully others will want to be involved and there can be more apples to apples racing classes.

Great post, and my apologies for referring to you as Desert Sports in my initial post. Brain fart on my end.

Great description, and photos.
Good thing the pictures come with your explanation of the event, I would be sckatching my head looking at the last lap photo and knowing what the out come was,
SK-1 , Redline 2nd, LGR 3rd.
Looks like LGR would be first Redline second and Sean's 1100 third.
Good for Sean he promoted and set up the event
so thats cool.

Later W.C.

April 19, 2008. The second day of racing and the results may not surprise you!

The day starts on a cool Southern California morning with a slight overcast sky to help keep us cool and boy are we going to need it. The participants are as follows:
DeserToys / Letz Go Racing sponsored 2-seater Joyner Turbo'd 1100
SuperKart sponsored Superkart 1100 2-seater with a Fast Freddy Fuel Management system
SuperKart Sponsored Superkart 1100 2-seater stock fresh off of the boat
2 - Redline Sponsored Single seat 750cc driven by Buggyworld

For a total of 5 vehicles

The new track is mild and will benefit the Redline since they will not have broken buggies to fix after every race. The first heat starts and one of the Redline 750s take the holeshot with the Joyner 1100 on the Redlines tail and the second Redline with a challenging third place. At the second turn the Joyner 1100 spins out and gets past by all drivers to be left in last place for the first lap. From here on out it will be a game of catch up for the Joyner 1100. This race is 5 laps and by the end of the second lap the Joyner 1100 is regained third place and the Redlines cruise to an easy first and second place finish. Superkarts finish 4th and 5th.

As a member of the DeserToys/Letz Go Racing team we try to get our 1100 Joyner to run right for the next and final race. We are sure we can beat the Redlines even though they are half our weight if we can get our buggy to run right. We heard a loud popping noise throughout the race as though we are flooding and the buggy seems to lack the top end that we were sure would put the Redlines to rest. By the start of the final race we cannot find the problem and we will have to just race and settle for whatever we get.

The final race ends uneventfully and pretty much is a repeat of the first heat with out our Joyner 1100 spinning out and starting in third and holding that position confidently until the end. I guess this race was pretty boring and we will settle for nothing other than using our Joyner 1100cc 1400lb buggy to beat the half the weight 2/3rds the horsepower Redlines. Oh wait! I forgot to mention the excitement of this race was the Superkart 1100 driven by Fast Freddies Nick caught fire on the final lap as you can see by checking out the pix.

Here is something to look forward to just to secure our status as the fastest. Since the Joyner does not seem to have the balls even with a Turbo to beat a overpriced single seat 750cc we are working on importing a 661 lb. Cherry 1100cc Single seater. No turbo needed just pure power and light weight should do it.

I can't believe I missed it. I was ready to go the night before and got called into work. I won't miss the next one...it looked like a ton of fun. Lake Elsinore is only about an hour away!

That looks like fun. I will be watching this to see if it opens to anyone. I'd take my 1600 Joyner to play. I hope this kind of racing is still going on when I get back.

I am glad to see more mx racing on mini rails, i have been racing our 800 mini viper, in short course desert and now looking to do more mx racing. it will be intresting to see how the mx racing will be paved in the mini rail scene.

I am wondering how the vehicles will be classified? where can i get information on the class types and guide lines on minirail classification for mx racing.

Where is the largest gathering in mx racing for the minirails, all types ***not UTVs***, I like to compete with fair and equal classes where the advantage is how well a race team can improve performace and how racing advantage is how much a team prepares for the race. It looks like this past race was a bit uneven , the redline and 1100 viper seems uneven to me. but i am glad racing is joining everybodys passion together. I dream of a competition where there are tons of 800s in one class, tons of 1100 in another class, and tons of any other mini rail in their class by displacment, suspension travel, etc.

Anyways, I spoke with Sean from Super Karts I think he was racing this past race, it was a pleasure talking to you on the phone, You reminded me about this site cause I have not been here in a while. The site looks like everybody's benefiting from all sorts of information. I will start coming here more to talk about mini rail racing and performance upgrades for mini rails.

Lets Race!
