What are the suggested spare parts to have on-hand for a mini-buggy? I know it would be nice to have a set of brake pads. How long do the CVT belts last? Would that be a good spare to have? What else do you guys suggest to have as spares?

Speed determines the spare parts requirements. What size motor do you? 150, 250, 800 or 1100. The faster you go the more you can break. Also, the manufacturer also determines some spare parts (ie. Carter 150cc buggies have an oil filter.)
So tell me what you have and as a dealer I will tell you what I see break most often. _________________ Affordable Fun!

I agree, speed, manufactor, and riding style will determine alot of what you will need. muddy sandy soil you will need to keep some barke pads, belts are another thing to have 1 of. they dont go out often but when you need one its generaly on the trails when they break. _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

I should have thought to give more details on my buggy and type of driving. My son and I each have the BajaMotorSports Reaction 150cc buggy. We mostly ride in the desert in the Phoenix, Arizona area and occasionally up in the surrounding mountains on a camping trip. The desert trips are sandy and dusty and we frequently follow the dry washes. It does not rain much here so mud is not a problem. The terrain is mostly flat in the desert but there are rocky and sandy hills we climb in some areas. I would guess most of the hills we climb are about 30 degrees or less and 20-50 yards long. On the flats we drive 20-30 mph and on some of our long day trips we will travel 35-40 miles total, stopping every 20 min or so for a break. The temperature in the summer can be as high as 110-115 F and as low as 35-40 F in the winter mornings. We have fun with the buggies but do not abuse them too badly. We bring a tow strap and flat repair kits on all our trips. I also have Slime in my tires. My son's buggy is stock except for a Uni filter. My modifications include a Uni filter, glass pack muffler and a #130 main jet. I would appreciate your suggestions on what we should buy for spare parts/what we can expect to wear-out. Thanks. _________________ ALZWEL (Frank)

reverse cables, belts, are the ones I would suggest. also keep an eye on the intake for cracks around the bolts. if the uni's are not supported good they will move around putting stress on the intake. its rubber so they dont take strees very well. _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything

Thanks BIGE for your suggestions. Didn't even think about a reverse cable. The only belt we have is in the CVT drive. I have supported the Uni filter with an extension spring around the base to the buggy frame, so it does not flop-around. Some of the guys we ride with have quads and they suggested getting a new chain with O-rings sealing the links. I understand that these are rather expensive. Are they worth it? I've had my buggy about 6 months and removed the chain once to degrease and clean it. I relubricated with a wax-type chain lube that is supposed to keep it clean. _________________ ALZWEL (Frank)

yes the o-ring chains are expensive, but they last a long time and when you buy a chain of say 90-120 links then you have enough for 2 chains. just keep yours clean and lubed and it should last a while _________________ Blade buggies,Carter buggy's, ams (manco) , joyner, parts for almost anything
