I keep reading that Twister go-karts can only be purchase fully assembled direct from a dealer but then I stumbled on a website, Menintools.com, that offers unassembled karts shipped from NJ. Is this place for real and are they an authorized dealer?

Yes they are real. They are the only dealer that is authorized to ship the Twister's unassembled. If I remember correctly TJ Powersports made a special deal with them when their dealership was burned or something to that effect. Anyways they have a pretty good reputation for customer service.

Great service. Ordered a HH150SS late Saturday. Truck delivered on Wednesday. Fully assembled and running 3 hours later. Had a couple minor problems (factory related) that the dealer was very responsive to.

I bought mine there as well. Mine was not assembled, though, it came in a crate and I had to put the cage together, put the wheels on, etc. It took about 4 hours to get it together.

I had a good experience with them. I didn't have any need to call them for parts or whatever, but they delivered as promised and I thought the price was right.

I did call a local dealer (who is actually an hour away) and they wanted $500 more than what I paid menintools.

TLM, you probably got yours assembled since I believe the shipping origination site is Irving, TX. Go Cubbies!!!!!!

My statement might have been misleading. Actually mine came unassembled and we had it assembled and running in about 3 hours. Came in a reinforced cardboard crate just like yours. The only problem was that after about 10-15 minutes of running it began to sputter. Turned out the fuel tank had considerable rust in it and that managed to get through the filter and clog the carb. Since the crate had been unopened, it must have come from the factory with moisture in the tank. One call to the dealer and I was offered a replacement carb and tank. I was able to clean the carb but took up the tank offer as I was concerned about residual rust that I couldn't remove.

Same deal with 'local' dealers here. Higher base price plus tax and assembly cost in addition to being quite a distance away. This is our third kart. All have essentially the same parts even though different brand names. By now we've fixed or replaced nearly every part on one or more of them so have little need for dealer service that is over an hour drive away. Biggest repair was swapping engines on a Carter with a $200 no name engine off ebay. Parts to fix the old would have been more than the cost of a whole new engine. The new engine is still running better than the original ever did.
