Sorry about the Joyner being too heavy remark. It IS a bit heavy for the 250 engine but the ride more than makes up for it. I don't believe I mentioned the word "Dog" although, I can see where you would get that impression. I put Joyner right up there in the top 3 in my book! I also think it looks WAY cooler too!
Personally though, I think I can get a Hammerhead or Twister to go faster! Rolling Eyes Twisted Evil

I appreciate the feedback guys. This is very helpful information, it's answered a lot of questions and concerns in doing my research. I think my top three are the Joyner 250, the Blade XTX, and the HH 250SS. Now I'll just have to compare what I have learned about them and decide.

Are Mods readily available for all three?

Readily available mods:

Rollers/sliders, torque spring, Hit clutch, carb and jets, exhaust, air filter, tires, belts, variators, etc. These are well documented and readily available upgrades.

Other:

Racing head. I know there's one out there and I think Kidnme is putting one on his HH250. We're anxiously awaiting his review.

300cc big bore kit: I've seen this on scootertronics.com, but I don't know of anyone that's tried it on a 250. I don't know if it will fit on any of the buggy 250 motors.

Is this something you're looking to buy ASAP or are you waiting a couple months for the weather to warm up? Tomberlin is planning to release a new 250 soon and it will have a longer suspension than most. With the Tomberlin you will not have the confidence in owning a model that's been out awhile and has been reviewed by members here. I wouldn't delay your purchase but if you're still in the market later, keep a look out for it. You won't be disappointed in Joyner, Blade or Twister if you buy now.

Just wanted to make your decision more difficult... Twisted Evil

as others have said you cant go wrong with the top three. I have run the dog snot out of my 250 xt and the xtx.

the factory winch, resivoir shocks, high\low tranny and the better ride on the xtx makes me want to trade up Very Happy

It will be a month or so for a couple of reasons. Yes I'm definitely waiting for warmer weather. I'll be 35 this year and after hunting season, I've had my fill of the cold.

Secondly, I have two more quads to get back together after their winter repair/preventative maintenance tear down. Garage space is a little limited right now.

March is my prep month. Thats why I'm doing my research now, so by the end of March I'll now what I want, will have the space and be ready to roll for the summer. We always kick off the riding season with a 3 or 4 day camping and riding trip in the middle of April.

You CAN'T be too old for this. Why? 'Cause I'm older than you and live in CT where it's a little chilly right now.

I understand the cold statement completely. We were just talking the other day about moving to North Carolina or somewhere further south. We've got ~8 years before we can do that.
